Nice cosy old school pub with a good variety of drinks and a lovely menu. Friendly service and attentive staff. Me & my family always have great meals here. We have been for lunch, evening meals, and even breakfasts on Sat/Sun mornings! They are always good at altering meals for our requests (such as chips instead of mash, gravy on the side etc) and there is always something for our family members who are gluten-free & diary-free. We have had birthday meals here as well, even for groups as much as 12 (but obviously booked in advance as a large group) & it's always enjoyable and a good atmosphere in the pub. Great beer garden with plenty of seats, outdoor heaters, flower beds, a bowling green, and all with such a pretty backdrop of a church and mighty old trees. It's definitely a hidden gem! The pub is an old coaching station inn, so the only thing is that the bar corridor can be tight for space when there is a queue for the bar, but everyone is always in good spirits to get past each other if needed, etc. Plus, it is all part of the pubs old school charm! So go with a smile and enjoy the buildings history as well as the food and drink. 😉

Reserved a table, we came in and the table was covered in alcohol, food and used straws, even though it had our reserved sign on it. Not a single person at the bar so we asked one of the waitresses where to order drinks and she said if we wait at the bar someone will be there in 5 seconds… so we went back to the bar and she was the one going back to the bar, so what’s the need for the attitude. We asked for a sangria spritz from their summer menu and was flat out told they don’t serve sangria. I had to argue that it’s on your menu! Surely you serve it?? They checked and just like that, they do serve it, so we get the sangria (without the fruit and ice as advertised) and sit back down. Later we order a tea to the table as my mother in law is cold due to their heat lamps not working, all other tables had their drinks brought to our table, not us, the same waitress comes out to the front of the pub and shouts ‘who ordered a tea’ Much to the bemusement of all the England fans sitting watching the game who started to jeer and laugh about someone ordering a tea at the pub, she knew what she was doing. Never coming back to such awful service.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a roast. Really cosy little pub which was a great place to while away a Sunday afternoon, cosy, comfortable and warm with a very typical British pub decor. It actually gave me a very countryside pub vibe which I found quite whimsical. The food available was a little short of the full menu as it was clearly very busy with most tables being reserved. I wasn't able to have the beef roast or cauliflower cheese (unfortunately) but I went for the lamb instead (which was delicious). The food was very good, personally I would have liked a larger portion of meat but for the price it was perfectly acceptable, you are able to request more veg if required for no additional cost. The service was really good and the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Food was not so good tonight. We went to the bell yesterday evening and food was great, we went back tonight as it was so good yesterday and was not so impressed. We ordered a starter sharer which we had the night before and was really not nice at all, the sausages had a strange taste compared to the great taste the night before. The worse meal tonight was the waygner burger, the streaky bacon was so fatty it was not eatable and had to be taken off the burger and the burger its self was not cooked enough to the point that the bun was dripping with meat juice which was a little bloody and not great at all!

It is such as shame as last nights food was amazing, tasted great hence going back tonight.

Staff seem very friendly and very helpful although was very very busy tonight due to a quiz night and bowling match so was unable to speak to a member of the team with regards to our food issue.

In all fairness tonight has really put us off eating from the Bell again which is such a shame as only live over the road and would have loved to make it our local. It just seems that when they are busy the food is also rushed and sent out...
