Lets talk about @tasteology_birmingham - my brother in law (thank you Amir! ) treated us to breakfast here on our stay over.
You walk into cute middle eastern vibes. There was one table in the far back corner that looked really cool. Took a pic of that. The menu is one of those fancy, scan the QR at the table to see - which is quite impressive for a local small business 🎉🥳 - (you know I love to support!) I decided to go for something diff to usual so went for shakshuka & tea, elder daughter went for an omlette & milkshake. Younger one got cheesy beans on toast from the kids menu, which you get a free hot choc with.
My shakshuka was delish. Best way to describe it was a warm hug in the morning. Portion sizes were great. Kids enjoyed their food too. Was impressed that the tea was served in a pot and all the food was presented well! You could tell the owner has put a lot of love into the curating the menu and food for sure!!
Service on the other hand was not as impressive as the food sadly. I don’t know if the woman serving us was having a bad day personally or what the reason was. Firstly, we only noticed little one was supposed to be getting a free hot choc after we ordered so we went to mention this and cancel the one we had paid for. We were told that the orders already done now so can’t change it and that we’ll have to just have two hot chocolates… bizzare, considering the drinks had not been started yet. Secondly, no milk was served with the tea, which is fine, people forget, but we had to ask for milk about 3 times (which was quite embarrassing by the third) before we were given any. Mind you, we got the “free” hot choc straight away but the second one didn’t even turn up through the whole meal. So had to re-ask as we were leaving. She did kindly make it for us in a take away cup. I mean, it wasn’t the worst, she was still polite, but I feel like the whole experience doesn’t flow as smoothly as you hope when the service is not up to scratch. However, saying that, I know people have bad days, we are all human so it’s not that big of a deal. I just feel like I have to be completely honest when reviewing. Personally, the food would definitely bring me back again and my bro in law says the service has been great each time he’s been...
Read moreAs a former employee i previously worked here for almost a year, while i was in employment at Tasteology one of the most important things to the business was ensuring customers were content with the quality of the food. Having left on bad terms… i still didn’t have an issue with supporting the small business, i had come in once with my partner and we were declined service because it was “too busy”, as i’ve said previously, having worked there i’ve seen first hand how “busy” the place can get and know that 4 tickets and 1 in house customer is not “busy” however i brushed off the childish behaviour of not serving an ex employee and we went somewhere else.. Having said that and due to previous experience of being declined service in house we decided to order via uber eats, now i’m unsure if it was a genuine mistake or if it was done intentionally, the food came raw and incorrect, i did message the owner privately to address the issue and save the public humiliation and i received no response however for the interest of other customers i wouldn’t see it fit for anyone to order tasteology online as they clearly don’t value the safety and quality of the food they send out to people when their faces are hidden, it was impossible to eat the raw food and we didn’t even receive the correct order (smoked salmon and egg brioche)… really poor and disgusting from a place i previously respected for its ability to maintain the quality in their food, however i didn’t know that once i left, raw meat would be served. foods all frozen anyways so i don’t understand why it’s so hard to make correctly 🤡 if you’ve been told it’s “fresh” you’re being sold dreams. Check your food if you order online or come into...
