An Unforgettable Culinary Journey - An Absolute Gem!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Where do I even begin? From start to finish, our experience at Hello Spice was nothing short of spectacular. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination that stands out in Birmingham's vibrant food scene.

We started with the Mixed Grill platter, and it was a revelation. The meats were impeccably marinated and cooked to smoky, tender perfection. For our mains, the Butter Chicken was a masterpiece—incredibly creamy, aromatic, and balanced without being overly rich. The Lamb Biryani was equally impressive, arriving with a fragrant aroma and layers of flavour, with the meat falling apart at the touch of a fork. The chef’s special, the Chili Garlic Naan, was so good we ordered a second one!

What truly elevates Hello Spice is the impeccable service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made us feel so welcome.

The ambiance is modern and sophisticated, yet warm and inviting—perfect for a special occasion or a fantastic night out. The value for money is exceptional, considering the high quality of the ingredients and the generous portions.

Without a doubt, Hello Spice has set a new standard for Indian cuisine for us. We cannot wait to return and work our way through the rest of the menu. A heartfelt thanks to the entire team for a perfect evening. Highly, highly...

Second visit in a week, had to try the lamb shank, see pic. The lamb fell off the bone and the sauce was out of this world. * Utterly delicious!*

If you are passionate about flavours, spice, fresh ingredients, an authentic taste of the Punjab awaits you here. We travelled from the city centre (very easy by train which is 2mins walk from Chester Rd Station from New Street station) to see our good friend Yaqub. He has partnered with a very talented chef, both from a prestigious Indian restaurant in the city, to bring their our culinary flair to this new restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the flavours of the mixed tandoori meat starter which included deliciously marinaded chicken tikka and lamb chops which were the softest texture, melt in the mouth. For mains it was a delicately flavoured chicken biryani, steamed to perfection, with chickpea curry. The sauce was thick, tangy and beautiful flavoured with fresh coriander. Saag aloo was fresh and the naan was light as a feather and crispy. Absolutely perfect! Well done to Yaqub for the care, passion and excitement every time we enjoy your food and talking about your dishes, their ingredients and origins. This is going to become an incredibly popular restaurant when word gets out and it couldn't happen to a nicer man. Can't wait to visit again and explore more of the menu, especially your home town lamb shank with saffron and cardamom. Yum! Thank you for making us...

1580 launched their new menu on 19th of June and we tried: •vegan samosa chat •chaat bomb •bombay chilli chicken •bhutwa - lamb intestine, liver, kidney, heart & stomach •khasi ko jhol - mutton •murgh makhani - butter chicken •achari baigan - aubergine curry •double tadka daal •gulab jamun

All of dishes were sublime, packed with authentic flavours and high quality ingredients. They tasted really ‘clean’ as we like to describe it; not marred by too much grease or heavy handed seasoning.

We were particularly fond of the controversial dish on the menu: bhutwa. It was so delicious and the cooking process meant that it didn’t look like offal or have the texture you might expect. We would order this again and encourage you to give this a try.

We couldn’t get enough of all the dishes really, but the vegan samosa chat and khasi ko jhol where really to our liking. We love seeing mutton making more of an appearance on menus lately 🤤

There is a wonderful ambience in the restaurant, the staff are really helpful, and they have a well stocked bar including a range of original cocktails.

You really should give 1580 a visit. We’d suggest getting the train if that’s an option (Chester Rd) so you can take advantage of the 2 for £10...

A fantastic new addition to Birmingham's dining scene! Hello Spice on Chester Road is an absolute must-try. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the wonderful hosts and manager, who provided exceptionally respectful and attentive service. The ambience is lovely, with soft candlelight creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We started with the Sev Dhahi Puri and various Tikka dishes – each one was incredibly fresh and bursting with authentic flavour. It was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious food and superb hospitality.
