Loco Lounge — Restaurant in Birmingham

I've been going to Loco Lounge for many years as a local resident and it's had its ups and downs over the years from my perspective. There have been occasions where I've had great meals and occasions when it's been just okay, but I've never had a terrible time here.

For what it's worth, I think the relatively recent redecoration has really improved the atmosphere.

I most recently visited on Christmas Eve for brunch with friends and we had a lovely time.

I had the beetroot and feta flatbread and it was the nicest thing I've eaten out in a venue in a few months. A friend of mine had the aubergine flatbread and she said it was great, and I was jealous that mine wasn't generously covered in dill like hers was! I'll have to come back to try it soon.

The staff here are always friendly and helpful, and I haven't got a bad word to say about them. They seem to like working at Loco which is always a positive thing to see!

Also it's worth noting that Loco Lounge is a mobility-accessible venue with a ramp at the entrance and an accessible loo. For what it's worth I think the double doors at the entrance could do with an automatic open button as one door open by itself isn't wide enough for an electric wheelchair, and are a little heavy/awkward for anyone who might use a mobility aid such as crutches / a walker / a stick.

One thing I've always admired about the Lounges franchise is that they have a separate vegan menu available for clarity, and that you have the choice to order via QR or at the bar. I've been to 5 or 6 different Lounges venues and they have always been consistent in what they deliver.

I also like the casual but elegant feeling of the Lounges, which bridge the gap well between a place that's suitable for meeting for coffee, dining with family and friends and even going for a meal with a significant other.

I am very appalled with the service received from the assistant manager Karen. We ordered churros and they came with 2 syrup dips, we had ordered churros before which normally comes with syrup and a chocolate dip. We asked Karen if we can get the chocolate dip as we have 2 syrups, Karen disregard everything we said and responded with "it's definitely chocolate". It was clear that both dips were syrups, we told her it was not chocolate as it looks and tastes like syrup, we even got our phone torch to show her both dips looked the same, however, Karen responded with "it's chocolate but I'll get another one", she then returned with a toffee dip and said all the chocolate dip had finished, so our point is if the chocolate dip had already finished then how was the previous dip was chocolate. KAREN WAS RUDE AND HER ATTITUDE WAS UNCALLED FOR, ESPECIALLY BEING A ASSISTANT MANAGER. Then another member of staff named Mark who was quite the opposite of Karen came over and gave a chocolate dip. Thought the chocolate dip had finished Karen?? On the other hand, Mark was lovely and apologised on behalf of Karen. They should swap roles as Mark would be a better assistant manager because he has better qualities and customer service, unlike Karen. Not even an apology from Karen, Karen has definitely proven that her name matches her character, typical Karens. Pathetic assistant manager, who needs to really study her role and make some changes as she will be making a loss to the business with her...

Been going here since COVID lockdown days! 😃 To have my favourite, Lounge burger and chips plus a side salad. Delicious. Excellent service.

Had the lounge burger again on visit on 31 August 2022. I don't how they do it but it was absolutely delicious!!! With chips and salad and Italian lager, followed by a double expresso. Yummy. Compliments to the chef... And to the servers who are excellent. Thank you.

Here we are in April 2023... Had the lounge burger with gluten free roll(it's seeded), with chips and salad. My favourite! Was, as ever, delicious!

September 2023. Lounge Burger was, as ever, delicious as were the fries plus the well dressed fresh mixed salad. Coupled with the attentive service by two jolly staff. What more could you want. New decor... Loud wallpaper, different on opposite walls, with lots of pictures and mirrors and new ceiling lights and background music, all create a congenial atmosphere in the restaurant.

I'm here in February 2025. It's just as good.
