Punjabi Dhaba is a legendary top tier curry house.
My friends and I have been loyal customers of the Dhaba for about 8 years. We have followed them when they've moved from the original Kings Heath location, to Acocks Green, to Billesley Lane and now to the Pershore Road.
This is simply the best vegan / vegetarian curry spot in Brum. The value for money is off the charts. We have never been disappointed!
I forgot to take a picture of the menu when I was last in, but our notable favourites and repeat orders are:
Starters:
• Soya fish tikka pakora
• Soya chicken tikka pakora
• Paneer tikka
• Soya fish amritsari pakora
Mains:
• Soya lamb rogan josh
• Soya lamb / fish bhuna
• Soya butter chicken
• Soya lamb saag
• Soya lamb spicy south Indian
• Soya lamb karahi
Sides:
• Vegan plain naan
• Chapati
The new restaurant is roomier than the last spot, but still feels cosy and welcoming with the signature charm of Punjabi Dhaba.
This new location also has a function room upstairs, which I have been told is available for hire. It is a good size and looks like it could comfortably fit 20 people seated for a meal, perhaps 30 standing.
The loos are clean and bright, but are are upstairs, so unfortunately they are not accessible to people with mobility issues.
The restaurant is fully licensed and has a good range of drinks, with Cobra on tap.
We love coming here, and we would be lost without it!...
Read morePlease do not believe this restaurant or its claim to be a Punjabi restaurant. We placed an order at 7.20 PM for the following items -
And to add to this insult, the food turned up at 9 PM (more than 1.5 hours later!) despite paying for delivery. At the point of order, we confirmed several times that it is authentic Punjabi food and not Bangladeshi. Yet to be served this at best rather opportunistic.
Update following response below - If you noticed, there was no reference to prices and whole review referred to disgusting food that was sent to us. Please quit calling yourself “Punjabi Dhaba”! It’s fraudulent and misleading. Or go back to chef school! I wish I checked other recent reviews below before I decided on ordering from this...
Read moreVisited on 16th August. To start I had falafel and my partner had calamari. Falafel, £6, was pretty good but the calamari, £6.50, was about the best I’ve tried in a long time. Accompanying our starters were some complimentary sides. For mains I chose porterhouse steak, £21.95. My partner had bolognese, £14.95. The steak was excellent and the fries were seasoned well. The spaghetti was cooked properly but was was cut in two. To drink I had a merlot but I didn’t think it was as fresh as it could’ve been. I switched to the Turkish wine and that was very nice. The best food in King’s Heath I told them. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. It was quiet. Sign of the times. Only three other people in for most of the time. Another couple arrived before we left. We plan on returning soon and adding this restaurant to our list of regularly visited...
