Booked at 8pm on Saturday, waited 20 mins to big queues to then be told our booking doesn't exist, despite being shown the book where I spotted my surname "Parkes" for 6 at 8pm only be told "ohhhhh no that's Pares they're already here." Manners of the waiter with a Louis Vuitton belt were appalling. Was then told "a booking means I try and get you a table not that you have a table". Absolutely atrocious service, rude waiters who don't know how to write correctly and lie repeatedly when if they had just told the truth and admitted they had messed up it would've been much better. No respect for the paying customers they are providing a service for. DO NOT GO TO REGARDS, MOTHER INDIA IS FAR SUPERIOR!! **Can't see a way to reply to your response so am adding it in here... Thanks for your response, but there seems to be a few severe misunderstandings here. Not once did we claim the name looks like Parker-why would we claim this considering it is not the name we supposedly booked under so would therefore not help our case at all? In addition, it was never communicated to us that the other table had confirmed their booking-if we had simply been told this it may have helped us understand the situation. No members of our group were at any point asked to show their ID. If we had have been asked to show this, we would have presented you with valid ID, but as I mentioned nobody asked us to show it, therefore of course we continued to consume our alcoholic beverages which we were legally able to drink. Yes, it may have been claimed there was a table ready for us, but having that told to you since about 8:10 to about 8:45 is rather unassuring, considering we had been waiting for 3/4 of an hour, and surely you have to admit this sort of wait is quite frankly unacceptable-particularly with the guidelines preventing from you being open after 10pm. Furthermore, if you want to bring up other customers comments about our behaviour, we also spoke to other customers who said the way we were being treated was "wholly unacceptable" and from his point of view he believed you thought you could get away with it "'coz you lot are only kids". Seeing it from our point of view, yes, I can see why our behaviour may have come across possibly confrontational, however, when you have waited 45 minutes for a table which you booked using the correct process therefore you should have had reserved and ready for you when you arrive, you must admit it is extremely frustrating and infuriating to then have no guarantee of a table and a meal we were looking forward to and to be told "a booking means I try and get you a table." I think we can all admit improved communication between the staff and the customer here could have improved this situation and would be useful to consider for next...
Read moreThe curry was the worst I've ever eaten in my entire life. Ever. I adore curry and I couldn't finish this one and I've never done that before with a curry. It tasted like the chef had phoned in sick and the manager had no one else to replace him and he gave it a go at chefing himself despite never never touched a saucepan in his life. The curry had raw peppers in and I could taste raw spice that I think may have been thrown in last minute and hadn't had a chance to cook. It tasted absolutely horrendous. I'd have complained about it, but didn't want to make a fuss. The rice was also not so nice. An odd combination of ingredients that just didn't blend togetherin the final dish. I left most of that, too. The dips with the poppadom starter were bland and the onions in it tasted like they were yesterday's and the mint yoghurt lacked the mint. I don't believe the chef here has heen to culinary school and needs replacing ASAP.
The positives - Lovely soft padded booths to sit in, along the windows, if you can get one. Warm room. Attentive, professional and polite staff. You can order alcohol there or bring your own.
This place isn't suitable for a lot of disabled people, as there is a long flight of stairs to walk up to get to the restaurant.
I would never eat here again. Worst tasting Indian restart I've ever been to.
Tip for the manager - get a decent chef and you'll be one of the best Indian restaurants...
Read moreI was really looking forward to a nice Saturday evening meal with my family when I looking into booking Regards and reading the reviews it convinced me to do so. Upon arrival we were seated within 5 mins. The tables were packed so tightly together it was like running a gauntlet to get though them. The atmosphere was loud and buzzing something I was expecting. Drinks and starters came without delay although our water wasn’t brought to the table and we had to ask over 4 times to for our water. Our mains took over 1hour and 20 minutes to come. I understand the chaos of a Saturday night busy service however no one came over to us to check on our table. No apologies. We were just left to our own devices. Getting waiters attention was also difficult as the place is so big and no one coming over to us. It wasn’t until I walked up to the bar to ask about our main course did I get an apology. Mains were fine but after waiting so long all we wanted to was eat and go. I had such high hopes of Regards and was hoping to make it my local. However after this experience I will not...
