Slug & Lettuce: A Surprisingly Good Pub Grub Experience I was pleasantly surprised by my recent visit to the Slug & Lettuce. While I had heard mixed reviews, my experience was actually quite good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lively crowd and friendly staff. The decor was modern and stylish, with a touch of rustic charm. The food was very good. I ordered the chicken katsu curry with a side order of chips and it was cooked to perfection and the chips were crispy and golden brown. The portion size was also generous. The service was prompt and attentive. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and she made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I had a positive experience at the Slug & Lettuce. It's a great place to grab a bite with friends or family, or to just relax with a drink after a long day. I would definitely recommend it. Here are some additional details that might be helpful: * The Slug & Lettuce is located in the heart of the city center, so it's easily accessible by public transport. * They offer a wide variety of food and drinks, so there's something for everyone. * The prices are reasonable, especially considering the location and quality of the food. I hope this review helps you decide whether or not to visit the Slug & Lettuce. I think it's definitely worth a try!

The £9 nachos were a great portion size, what I would expect for the price. However, they arrived without the guacamole and very little cheese. It took 45 mins to clear the plate after we finished the starter. We then waited ages for our mains to come out after chasing it up. We were told that there was a 40min wait on food due to a big party ordering. We'd already waited an hour and 10mins and we ordered before the party were even in the venue. There were two waitresses only and they were both running around like nutters, far too over worked. To rub salt in the wound, the manager looking man and woman behind the far were chatting and drinking coffee most of the time. Why didn't they help out?! The mains finally came out 1hr20m after ordering and were mediocre at best. Overall we were very disappointed. An extra oddity, some lads outside ordered a few nachos and sharing platters. They wouldn't all fit on the table so one was just left for over half an hour a few tables away, flies ask over it! Some blokes turned up later and started eating them! Good job the food hygiene inspectors weren't in!

2019 Nice cosy place. There's parking around the back of the pub. Good atmosphere. I had the tapas, 3 different dishes, which were all very filling. Although the chicken wings were a little over cooked, the rest was fine. March 2023 On return, I met up with a friend for dinner, and found that this place has had a refurb last year. Not sure if I'm liking it ... looks like a wine bar rather than a cosy pub. A lot of high stools to balance on, and very bright. We found a nice table to the right of the pub which seemed quieter. The Katsu chicken curry was .... ok, and I was tempted by the churros and Belgian chocolate sauce which was warm and tasty. The toilets were at the back, and were clean and tidy. There's parking where you can pay either cash or card.

Booked a business lunch for 6 people for a colleague who was leaving, booked several weeks ago.

We arrived to a rather empty restaurant/bar which was fine, approached a woman behind the bar explaining we had a booking for 6 and where did she want us to sit. She wasnt very helpful and made a remark saying well there isnt any other groups of 6 in today in a rather condescending tone and we got ushered to the booth.

We were polite and just sat down and thanked her. We ordered our food through the app. Drinks came fairly quick, one of the team politely asked for less ice in the glass as it was full to the top with barely any space to pour into. The server took the glass abruptly and tipped half the ice on to her serving tray in front of us and said there you go and went off.

We waited what felt a long time for food with no indication from staff who were just stood around to apologise or indicate if there was an issue. During the wait the same lady came to us saying 'you ordered a Vegan Burger...' we said no it was the plant sandwich which had avacado etc. She said nothing in response and went off. I double checked the recipet and we had definitely ordered the plant sandwich.

When the food came out 40/45 mins later the plant sandwich had no avacado and no red pepper it was essentially a cucumber sandwich. A different female server who was very helpful and polite helped with this while offering options to resolve it but a refund for the meal was requested which she sorted for us quickly. Unfortunately the food was not great across all meals, the steak sandwiches were very tough i had to leave half of my meat out the sandwich due to it being too chewy and hard to cut through. Chips were not seasoned and no salt or pepper was on the tables as standard.

The £7 deal is a great promotion but in reality isnt worth it. It was a real shame to have the experience we did due to it being a leaving lunch for a colleague.

It was just disappointing, if the service had been better I feel it wouldnt have been so bad.

Its a beautiful refurb for the Slug and Lettuce however, a big improvement from last...

We were greeted and told we had booked for table service and we agreed because we had booked a table. A girl came over said ‘there’s your food menu’s and walked off. Our food and drinks order was taken and food came out with no cutlery. We then went to order more drinks and the girl told us she has to go find our table server to then come back and tell us we didn’t book table service. I don’t think this is very clear to customers as surely if you book somewhere for a meal and someone takes your food and drink order that is table service…. She then came back with the IPad just to show us we hadn’t booked table service (in which time she could have just put our order through on our food tab, where our other drinks were). We were then told we had to order more drinks through the app so I would be paying for drinks separately every time and then a food and drinks bill at the end as well. Which makes no sense.

At the end of the meal there were no servers anywhere and we could have quite easily skipped out on our food bill as we now apparently had no table service half way through our meal. We then had to go pay for our meal at the bar.

Also ordered a chicken breast with salad and was served scruffiest salad and the hardest driest chicken ever.

Staff don’t seem to know what they are doing, food was not worth the money, no options on the menu anyway. Cocktails were very watered down.

I have been here before with no problems and I never complain but this was atrocious. Next time will spend my money we’re customers are taken care of and not just dumped and wondering what’s going on.

Don’t sit customers down in a restaurant where there is table service, give them table service and then take that table service away half way through and make a whole point about it when we just wanted...
