Tucked into the area of Harborne is one of my favourite places to eat, The Junction. The restaurant itself is inviting, with plenty of tables and an outdoor seating area in the ‘garden’. My experience today was met with plenty of lovely smiling faces, with people ready to help. After I strolled in, I was quickly greeted and shown to a table where I was assisted by James B. I did not have a table booked, although being a party of one, they were happy to accommodate me. James B was wonderful in checking to see how I was, and advised on the drinks on the menu: the choice of alcohol & alcohol free brews was plenty. Settling on a peach iced tea, I was able to simply sip and enjoy the atmosphere whilst waiting on my food. This order came quite quickly. I was met with a beautiful bed of greens, having ordered a fresh avocado and mango salad with a side order of skin-on fries, which was crispy and beautifully done. Mark and Brandon, the chefs for today had outdone themselves. Although I did not order a ‘bigger’ main, I could see from the other folks sat near me enjoying their food and commenting how “good” it was. I had also ordered a tiramisu, which, in my experience, some people can make them very well or very poorly. This was not the case; the tiramisu here is beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavour. I had a delightful Sunday afternoon at The Junction, and I would highly recommend it here. It’s family friendly and such a warm atmosphere. Thank you staff at The Junction for the food, and for being so warm and welcoming!

From outside this place looks like a regular pub but inside Its a gastropub it has a nice bar at the front and plenty of tables along the side and towards the back of the room. I went with my wife around 3pm on a Monday and it was quiet. We asked for menus at the bar and picked a table at the back. They have the option to order and pay at table but the burger menu was not on the website so went up to the bar and ordered. The lady served me straight away and asked if I had any allergies, she answered any questions I had about the food and double checked with the chef about how the chicken schnitzel was cooked. Our starter was a crispy calamari I and was pleasantly surprised. At first glance it looked over done but it was cooked beautifully, not chewy or stringy just perfect bites. Next came our mains, I had the chicken schnitzel and I finished every bite. It’s not often I eat the salad that comes along with a meal but I liked this as it wasn’t drenched in dressing and the fries were perfectly cooked. My wife had the big dipper from the burger menu (this menu was not on the website hence why we went up to the bar to order). Again the fries were cooked to perfection and the burger was delicious, the burger bun was nice and soft and the right amount of sauce and pickles are on the burger too. I will definitely come back again especially to try the Sunday roast. This place is my new favourite food spot in harborne.

The Junction: A Mixed Bag of Experiences The Junction certainly benefits from a good location, making it easily accessible. We popped in expecting a relaxed meal, and the food itself was nice – flavorful and seemingly fresh. The service was generally not bad, with staff being polite and attentive when they were around. However, our experience took a bit of a turn when our order arrived. We had specifically ordered a chicken burger, but were initially presented with a chicken salad. Mistakes happen, and we appreciated the swift action to rectify it. Unfortunately, our replacement burger arrived with what appeared to be the exact same chicken that was on the salad. This was quite disappointing and made us question the attention to detail in the kitchen. Adding to the frustration was the surprisingly long wait for our food, especially considering the restaurant didn't seem particularly busy at the time. This delay took away from the overall enjoyment of our visit. On a positive note, for those driving, the free on-street parking on Sundays is definitely a bonus. Overall: The Junction has potential with its convenient location and tasty food. However, the significant error with our order and the slow service, even when not crowded, left us feeling underwhelmed. While the free parking on Sundays is a plus, some improvements in order accuracy and kitchen efficiency would greatly enhance the dining experience here.

We were greeted promptly upon arrival, there was only one menu on our table, and we were a party of 6, so I took my own initiative to get some more. We were greeted by our table waitress. She was incompetent and attempted to replay our order to us when we’d only ordered 4 mains out of 6 so far. We also ordered 3x nachos for starters. I clearly stated 3 times that I did not want guacamole on top of the nachos and asked for the dip to be given separately on the side. I did not see her write this down, hence why I asked 3 times, however she ensured me she understood. Lo and behold, the nachos arrived, all with guacamole on them. Once I complained, she had the cheek to ask me whether this was okay, and whether the guacamole can stay on top of the nachos, to which I replied no. They were taken back, but magically appeared again 5 minutes later. For the nachos bowl I was eating off, I could see bits of guacamole. They had not been remade, they had simply scraped off the guacamole. By this point I did not have the energy to complain again, and the whole party was hungry, therefore I did not complain again. However, I find this extremely poor. Some of the nachos were also soggy and they were not very warm, and additionally a lot of the nachos did not have cheese on them. They were extremely different to how I’ve had them at the junction previously where everything was perfect. Mains then arrived, these were a lot better, and very tasty. We were not asked again whether anybody wanted a drinks top up until after everyone had finished their meals, by this time we were ready to leave. It was an extremely disappointing visit, it was my birthday and that was the reason for the visit and I had only good words to say about my previous visit. Unfortunately following this visit, I will be unlikely to go back for a long time. Additionally, the atmosphere was relatively nice and relaxed, until the rugby started and the speakers came on and the commentary was being blasted throughout the pub which ruined the atmosphere given that this was a...
