Sultan Shawarma and Grill — Restaurant in Birmingham

On my late night visit to this establishment, compared to the various other options in the area at this time of night, this was by far the cleanest and most inviting. Ordered mixed kebab in naan, after seeing others being prepared, and being impressed with what I was seeing. Staff were very friendly and efficient, and the food was prepared and ready very quickly. Onto the quality of the food - I was absolutely blown away. Naan tasted fresh and properly prepared, as opposed to being removed from packaging and microwaved. Kebab meat (both lamb and chicken) were flavoursome and tender, and exuded quality, rather than raising questions as to the origin of the meat. Truly this was far from what I was expecting, I therefore cannot recommend this place enough. At first glance it appears as a run of the mill kebab shop, however the charcoal grill is an immediate comforting sight, and the quality leaving the kitchen is bounds above the closest competition, including larger name franchises. Truly a 10/10 establishment.

After a few return visits, I must add that Sultan are definitely consistent. Quality and taste always just as good as the visit that inspired the original review. Potentially 11/10 at this point. A case must also be made for the soup, warming...

full of 5 star reviews so im not sure what happened to our food but it was the worst ive had in birmingham in a very long time. was told they had no 1 piece chicken left so i got the wings instead. they were so hard and crispy my husband told me not to risk eating them. felt like they were weeks old. the fries were unfortunately no better. my husband was banging on about how i should have gotten shawarma from a shawarma place and its my fault, that is until he tasted his own food and hated his mixed shawarma wrap also. the meat was horrible. we got this on a late night friday so maybe it was down to the time i dont know, however i wont ever be risking it to give it a second chance as for £10 it was not...

This place is amazing! They made the best mix shawarma wrap I've had in years. The naan was perfect - slightly fluffy, just the right amount of toast and air bubbles (and you could see them making more in the tandoor right behind the counter). Delicious salad add-ins with picked jalapenos, onions, and everything you'd want. High quality meat on the rotisserie - great caramelization, good flavor on both the chicken and lamb. A far cry from the sad lukewarm pale meat shaved into wraps at other shops. Good sauce selection. I had the chili mayo and would recommend.
