Famished after a long drive , my partner and I were ready for some pub grub that would warm our insides. We stumbled upon the New Inn in Harborne through a Google search, sadly our first impressions were less than appetizing. Being new in town we assumed the pub had parking but we had missed it . We decided to give them a call and ask for some help. Unfortunately, an unhelpful lady answered the phone, told us there was no parking available and didn't offer any alternative solutions and hung up . With our hunger leading the way, we conquered the parking situation and briskly marched on to the pub undeterred by this lady’s attitude. Now, unless this pub has a monopoly on unpleasant female staff members , I assume we were unlucky enough to encounter the same lady who answered the phone when we finally arrived. Her general demeanour was off-putting , she was as helpful as a screen door on a submarine. She stood there, not uttering a word while we ordered food from a menu that had already stopped being served, before informing us that none of our order was available. Thankfully, a friendly male staff member, recognised our need for assistance and stepped in to explain the menu and pointed out which meals were still available. The pub itself was an igloo, but we managed to keep warm by leaving our coats on . It's possible that they turned off the heating to save on energy costs, understandable giving the current crisis we all face. Despite the negative first impressions, the food , when it arrived was the shining star of the New Inn. The bangers and mash and ale pie were delicious . Absolutely the best !!! ⭐️🌟🌟🌟🌟5 stars all day long ,also reasonably priced . The pub interior is clean and well presented , the toilets are on the ground floor , modern , also very clean and well maintained We'll be returning to the New Inn , but we'll make sure to dress for sub-zero temperatures and hope to avoid the unpleasant lady. The food is worth the risk of frostbite.

Hadn’t been here for a while but popped in again a few weeks ago . Fantastic service , great selection of drinks and the food that we have tried so far has been very good . It’s a great place and really good VFM , they do specials through the week and some sort of loyalty card stamp for free drinks , bobble hats etc . Never been in a Joules brewery place before or tried any of their Ales but I’m now converted and look forward to sinking a few over the coming months 🤣🤣. All in all a great place and one that we will now continue to use . Keep up the good work and best of luck to all that work there for the future 👍👍.

Good service, friendly staff, drinks coming to table quickly even on Saturday night. Decent selection of draught beers. The only downside (but nothing big enough not to cone back) is the portion size of Buttermilk Goujons. 3 small pieces of chicken, however nice they were, are not worth £4.45. Especially if for the same price you can get big and tasty portion of nacho's...

We had a very poor first experience at New Inn this weekend and won't be returning any time soon - we'd heard similar things from others, but thought we'd give it a try as they have a large beer garden. Bear in mind that many of the (positive) reviews on here seem to be historic and from before they changed management from Bitter N Twisted. I had been on a long cycle ride with 3 other friends and were looking for a nice beer garden to have a couple of drinks at. Admittedly we didn't have locks with us so we wheeled (not rode) our bikes to near our table and propped them up against the wall. These were not in anyone's way and there was loads of space in the beer garden which was only a 1/3 full - on a sunny day like this, a beer garden not being nearly full should've been a red flag to us. We asked at the bar how we order drinks (they don't have an app unlike most venues post-COVID) and they said there was table service. The 2 bar staff painfully slowly made their way around the tables one-by-one (without wearing facemasks); we could see other customers had wised up to the bad service as they were doubling up on their drinks orders. After 30 mins someone finally approached our table and said we had to move our bikes off the grass. We then left. In contrast, the Hop Garden were welcoming and super friendly and said on this occasion we could leave our bikes in their...

Five of us went today for Sunday lunch. First impressions were good, Not too busy so thought would not have long to wait for food. Choice of roast beef or half a chicken also had pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puddings as extras. So we ordered 2 half chicken roasts and 2 roast beef lunches, and one fish and chips. We asked for pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese but we were informed that neither were available. Thought this was very poor seeing as they were having a menu relaunch. There did seem quite a wait for our food to arrive considering it wasn't busy. Best to come the 2 chicken roasts came which can only be described at best as an oversized pigeon breast. We asked if this was half a chicken and the guy serving went and saw the chef. When he returned he said that chef had thought it was half of a half a chicken... (so that's a quarter then) and he would cook some extra which did not arrive till after we had finished our meals. The vegetables were also under cooked. No apologies were offered. We also noticed other people were complaining about the quality of food and the waiting time. Don't think we will be going...
