What a wonderful gastropub. We walked in on a busy bank holiday weekend and they found a spot for us. The staff are absolutely lovely, everyone we encountered was friendly, efficient and professional. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. The fish and chips were fantastic. Large crispy golden fries, probably twice fried. Fish batter was light crispy and delicious. Unfortunately the mushy peas were minted which should be a crime against humanity (whoever decided that an overpowering herb like mint works with a delicate sweet vegetable like peas and started this dreadful trend should be shot) but that is the only thing anyone could gripe about and the perfection of everything else on the plate meant you didn't mind leaving the peas. The mixed roast of beef and pork was absolutely fantastic. Beef was cooked to perfection and still pink. Porchetta was flavoursome and delicious. All the sides were delicious. The vegetables were al dente and not the mush you often find with Sunday roasts. Yorkshire pudding was light and delicious. The gravy was a tad on the salty side which makes me think it's based on granules or powder but in the scheme of things that's a minor complaint. Drinks menu is varied with something for everyone and our wee man loved his brownie dessert. We would definitely come back next time we are in Birmingham, a true gem on the outskirts.

I really enjoyed my experience in The Physician. The food, staff, and atmosphere are really outstanding. I hope my comment can help your restaurant to be much more successful in the future. With the classy, vintage, and modern theme of your restaurant. It makes me more relaxed to enjoy my meal. However, I found out the background music may a little bit un-match the style. I suggest that you may use some jazz instead. That could provide more leisure and chill moments to the customer. I tried the Scallop and Crispy beef salad. First of all, the scallop was stunning, perfectly cooked, and well-seasoned. The texture of the puree is really rich, surprisingly pretty matched with the scallop. Really outstanding as an appetizer. And the crispy beef salad is colorful and really fresh. Combination of all the veggie, the texture of the whole dishes was so crunchy, with the sweet and sour dressing. However, the beef is kind of too salty and chewy. If the salad is handling the crunchy part, for the meat I will suggest you may use the slow-cook beef slice instead, probably WANYU or KOBE. Due to the taste and the combination, it can really open up your appetizer. In my opinion, this dish is more perfect in the appetizer but with less portion. Lastly, The physician is such a warm and sweet dining place for everybody. I will defiantly bring my friends and family to come to your restaurant again in the future. Hope your restaurant all the best in the future.

This is my second time visiting and I am not disappointed. Came for dinner at this gastro pub. We parked on a side road, as there is no ordinary parking available at the front of the pub. We arrived 30 minutes early, however we were seated immediately. The service was attentive as we sat down. We had three different servers come over before ordered (we did take a long time to pour over the menu, as it is extensive). We ordered a beef burger, with caramelised onions, pancetta, Montreal Jack cheese with fries; and had the lamb pie, with creamy mash and vegetables. Both portions were large and very filling. Drink sizes were good too - a Dutch lager and a soft drink. Atmosphere was louder than anticipated, but changed time to time, as patrons left. Mood lighting which is nice. Lovely artwork on the walls around the rooms, which is a lovely talking point! Happy to return again in the future.

Really really enjoyed a birthday lunch on 8th February. Spoilt for choice on the menu. Had a beautiful 🍅 soup, followed by totally delicious and tender shoulder of lamb (with a glass of Malbec) with al dente green beans, broccoli and ribbons of carrot... I asked for red currant jelly and.. They had it!! Don't happen in restaurants often.. The orange cheesecake with a scoop of chocolate ice-cream left us replete over our coffees. Attentive service in the lovely airy dining room all added up to a memorable experience. Highly recommended. Update, 26 June 2022. Had a Sunday lunch... And WOW.. Tender pork, roast potatoes and parsnips... Shredded cabbage, mangetout, tenderstem broccoli. Baby carrots. Wine was perfectly chilled.. This is a great place to feast.

We had a fantastic time at The Physician :) The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. We had the Sunday roast, beef and pork. There was more than enough and it was delicious. For pudding we had lemon cheesecake and dad had sticky toffee pudding. Very moreish and we cleaned our plates :) I happened to mention to Corinne, who waited on us, that it was my dad’s birthday when i came in, and she very kindly wrote happy birthday on my dad’s plate in chocolate, to go with his pudding, and she even sang happy birthday to him with a colleague when they brought it to our table. What a lovely surprise. Thanks Corinne. I would highly recommend the Physician for its lovely food and amazing service!! We will be returning for sure 🙂

Amazing, delicious, and delightful Gastropub! Went here for a late lunch for my wife's birthday. The decor and interior vibe is awesome, very rustic yet comfortable. The menu has fantastic choices of food and cater for all dietary requirements, my wife is vegetarian and she loved it. The service was prompt, informative and friendly. Perfect. The food itself was very VERY good. I had scallops to start with which tasted amazing and the lamb rump for mains. The flavors we're devine and a little bit left field but all complimented each dish fantastically. We ordered dessert and they put a candle in with a birthday message for my wife. All in all an amazing lunch experience and will definitely make a return.
