Yaadgaar Bakeries Alum Rock — Restaurant in Birmingham

Disappointing visit in mid March lunchtime.

After seeing for the first time and impressed by the outside decided to go and try, especially as well known name for sweet and savoury packed items in all Asian grocery stores, prices on menu also on par and just right with the area.

Guy running the place, had his kids there too occupying a table so wife who assists in the kitchen was back and forth with them.

Asked for 2 glasses of tap water for myself and mother only to be told they don't do tap water, that's illegal. So were the prices for bottled water! Luckily we were able to wait and have our bottled water we had in the car.

Katlama wasn't available until later, this was disappointing, even though they have big pan outside and fried items being made. Ordered 1 lamb samosa and one chana chaat. Very disappointed with the lamb samosa, wasn't even asked if I wanted I warmed up , it was cold and seemed that only half of it had the keema filling in it! Desi tea was average and small serving.

Not sure how much control and input Yaadgaar HQ in Bradford have but I'd recommend stick to making your baked goods that I'll keep on enjoying like your almond rusks however shall be avoiding this place and keep supporting the superior established venues...

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place has left me fuming. We had some guests down from abroad, and because they could only stay about 40 minutes, we couldn’t make them anything ourselves. So my dad went down to Yaadgar on Alum Rock Road and ordered some Kathlama Kapore and Samosa Penjeri. We asked if it was fresh, and they said it was made just half an hour ago.

We took it home, and as soon as our guests tried it, they felt sick straight away. At first, we thought maybe they just weren’t used to it, so we gave some to the kids as well. Within ten minutes, our kids were complaining they felt sick too. By the time our guests left, they were feeling absolutely awful. The food was cold, it smelt off, and honestly I can’t even imagine what germs were in it.

I don’t care about the money, that’s nothing. What really gets me is the fact that they lied about the food being fresh and clearly have zero standards or checks in place. As a business, that is just unacceptable.

If you’re thinking of going here, don’t. Seriously, avoid this place. It’s not just poor food—it’s dangerous, and I wouldn’t want anyone else putting their family through...

My experience at this place was not great. The food was cold, the shish kebab were hard you couldn't break into them. The staff handed out the food but did not giv no plates to eat on. The drinks were missing. I asked the sister who served for food the plates and drinks are missing. It was over 20 minutes waiting for drinks and plates. I had to ask second time for missing drinks and plates. The sister was been rude and said we don't serve plates to put food on an also she made mistake about the drink that we didn't order any but we did then she checked the receipt and notcied she was in the wrong an then replied, I wil serve you drinks in a angry manner. The service at this place is really poor and the staff are not great they need manner and communication skills. I would never recommend this place to no one.
