I am very disappointed. Very poor customer service. At the entrance we waited about 10 minutes for someone to show up to show us the place. despite the fact that one of the ladies at that time was sitting at the table with earphones on and was playing with her phone. when we managed to sit down at the table, the lady disappeared again for 10 minutes. when she came back she asked what we would like to drink. we chose 2 beers and one cocktail. then again the lady who served us disappeared. after another waiting time, we wanted to make sure what we could eat. informing her that we would like a dish from the menu, the lady evasively replied that it was best for us to take the dish from the self-service part. We did not even have the opportunity to choose a starter because she evaporated and it was not possible to even call her or let her know with a nod that we want something more. disappointed with such service, we decided on a self-service dish. when we were halfway through our meal a second waitress appeared carrying our drinks. And then we were very surprised because she asked if my daughter and her partner had ID. the three of us were very surprised. seeing the drinks on the tray, and the grown-ups could not drink what they ordered. unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to ask her why we were not asked about the ID at the time of ordering, we would avoid an unpleasant and frustrating situation. We asked the waitress who was passing by to explain to us why we were not asked this question when placing the order, only when she brought the drinks to the table, we heard that her friend forgot to ask what was even more frustrating because she was able to ask if we had any allergies. very disgusted, we finished our meal and left a place we had heard so much good about. Another low point is the Turkey Meat and pork, which was dried out and despite being poured over with the gravy, it was impossible to eat it. the only plus was beef and gammon which was delicious, but this is not an argument to go back there again. We will certainly not come back there anymore and we will advise each of our friends to avoid this place with a wide gap so that they do not come back home...
Read moreI have NEVER been so disgusted at a pub in all my 44 years and I have 25 years Bar/Cellar Management behind me.
Myself and family wanted a carvery so went to this place The Watergate. On arriving, I noticed how run down this place is, the trim on the roof was all rotten and falling down, paintwork was bad and peeling. On entering, we were greeted by this wall of wee smell in the bar area, I am guessing toilets are above bar area as they upstairs and have issues.
We sat down and was greeted by this young nice (so we thought) waitress (Blonde with glasses) who started to take our order. We asked if they did chips with the kids meal as our Autistic daughter didn't want mashed potatoes or veg as she is on a very limited diet due to sensory reasons. The blonde waitress replied, no, we don't do chips with the kids menu, I said really, no, we'll leave it then and go somewhere else to which the waitress muttered under her breath, "That's fine, there is a Burger King Accross the road"
If we wanted Burger King, we would of gone to Burger King. I was literally fuming, I had a rant in front of their other customers at the bar when leaving.
What sort of establishment doesn't do chips or cater/change a menu for children with disabilities? They are worse than Apllewood across the road who do them small Chicago town pizzas in the microwave for kids, least they do chips though.
Needless to say, we went to the Red Lion down the road and they got the £70+ instead of this place and from looking at previous reviews, their missing out on a lot more. Drastic improvement is needed from bosses outside of this establishment as the management inside clearly have no clue on how to run a business, maintain their property or fully train staff in customer service skills.
They need to work on their outside appearance, their toilets, their menu, their attitudes and their staff. Safe to say, I will NEVER visit this...
Read moreIt had been a while since I'd been to Toby Carvery, over Holton , shocked to see Euro Parking in force , put me off a little , but "hay" I'll give it a go . Reception was nice , and the reg number in tablet , shown to my seat , can't fault, ordered drinks , I was having a Carvery, the wife salmon ( non meat eater ). We waited and waited , 3 Pepsi refills later ,still no salmon, atmosphere very quite with 1 older man on his own , a table of four and two arriving, strange for a tea time 4.30 / 5pm ( place used to be bizzy). Eventually the salmon was ready , went up to the Carvery, waited, chef came out, put a Gammon down and walked off ,, waiting again i had a good look at the meats on offer, looked very dry as if they had been there for sometime, hay , I picked beef when the chef came back as it looked the best out of them all , the smallest of cuts where placed on my plate , just enough to fit on one slice of bread, I asked nicely, if that all the beef you get , chef walked away back into the kitchen, never acknowledge me , he may not of heard me ??? A spoke to the waitress ( very nice and polite they where ) asked me what was wrong , I just question the potion size , they also was surprised how little cut I was given . At this point the new arrivals went up for there Carvery, chef came out of the back , said he was busy in the back , take a seat for a while and come back . ( place was now empty, with only 1 older man sat on his own . That did it for me , again spoke to the waitress and asked for my bill for the drinks . I can't fault the waitress in any way , they even took my drinks off the bill . Needless to say it will have to improve somewhat before I call again , if ever . More and more food places are out there than ever . So we left a ate...
