Used to be best chippy in the area. Used to go every week, but stopped. Food was only good when the owner, Richard was working. When he let the young staff run it the chips were often sold stale, fish overcooked, and some of them had a snarky attitude, insulted customers and slow attitude.
The changes to counter during lockdowns haven’t been returned to it was, so there is very little space inside.
Used to have one called Issac who shouted an insult as we walked out. Richard has let one staff called Kate take and over she has been witnessed as being horrible to some local customers, stared at me on two occasions as I was being served and she insulted me, I stared at her and so did her colleagues wondering were that came from, ordered a refund and never returned when she was on shift. Not sure if I am happy or sad see it to empty when driving past.
Only went when Richard worked on a Friday and Monday, but fish & chips got worse then, too. Go to...
Read moreQuick update to this review, we went to Headroomgate Road chip shop who stick to their advertised hours, great fish and chips. Sorry I'll be going there again. Just been for dinner and they were closed at so 19:15, I rang at 17:00 to ask for delivery but was told the latest delivery was 19:00, 30 mins before closing so said I would collect. The web site says 20:00 the girl on the phone said 19:30 but they had closed when they felt like it. I don't care when they close but fix a time and stick to it. As a customer of over 50 years you have now lost my custom.

We asked why the family had been seated behind us ... I felt a woman's hair brush my back we were so close and one woman started coughing. This group hadn't waited and hadn't booked. We left. When I asked why social distancing wasn't adhered to we were told they could do what they wanted and this was "how the government say we can do things"... absolute tripe. When I asked how this was in line with government guidance I was told she was just a waitress....
