I noticed this place a few days ago and decided to give it a try. All tables were reserved, but was told I could take a table until a certain time. No problem. I sat and waited to be given a menu. A while later and still no menu, tried to get someone's attention. Was asked if I was ready to order. I stated that I was still awaiting a menu. Was not asked if I would like to order a drink. A long time later was not asked if I wanted to order food. Very hard to get attention and had to partially stand to get noticed. A young waitress then came to take my order. I ordered a vegan breakfast. She asked me if I would like scrambled or poached eggs? I said fried, well done. Then I realised vegans don't eat eggs? Why was I asked this? Ordered an Americano and she asked with milk. I said no. It's usually served black other places. So, a fairly long wait for the drink. And a very long wait for the food. A small portion of food arrived. Mushrooms had large grains of crunchy rock salt. The toast was bone dry. No spread of any kind. Not even margarine. I asked for butter as they had no vegan spread. Food was very expensive for a small portion of mushrooms, two sausages, one tomato, beans, ketchup, and toast. I got charged extra for the toast, even though breakfast states it comes with sourdough toast? Bread tasted nice, and coffee was the best thing that I tried there. Not happy that breakfast here cost me more than Central London prices, given that we are nowhere near a city, and that London cafe portions are heaps bigger. All staff serving were very young, and some new. Disinterested staff, totally inattentive. I was told to wait to be served, by a young girl when I tried to give her my order. She threw her arms up and said wait. Quite unprofessional really. Well worth the visit for the coffee. This was reasonably priced for the quality. Would have been nice to have friendly, and welcoming staff. Apparently, this place has a roof terrace. I did not know or would have...
Read moreOrdered afternoon tea for 3 adults and a child. Prompted to order based on photos on Facebook. Ours were nothing like the pictures. Especially the children's one. Apparently the photos were based on two servings and from the Lytham tearoom. Misleading. Wife is vegetarian and messaged that info and that she doesn't eat cheese. All that was available was egg mayo, despite advanced warning. Also originally wanted to serve all 3 afternoon teas on same platter. Not only would this mean mixing vegetarian food with meat products but the 3 people eating wouldn't all be able to reach the food. Got 3 tiny sandwiches each ( 4 in the photo per person). Very disappointed. On the plus side I ordered a club sandwich which was really enjoyable. Also dog friendly which is...
Read moreMy self and my partner went to the tearoom last Sunday morning. The staff were friendly and helpful. But there were signs we should have taken more notice off, like how the menus were sticky, the windows were really stemmed up which is not always a good thing, there was a funny smell in the air that just put me off a bit. I had the vegetarian breakfast and my partner had the full English. Mine was ok, I felt the sausage could have been cooked more and there were no hash browns which I would have liked but never mind. We wouldnât go there again but it was convenient for our needs...
