Staines first foray into a craft beer bar. When we move to Staines we always said it was lacking somewhere to get craft beer. A few years later and the last hop opened up. It's down by the river so is lovely on a summer's day to sit and watch the boats/swans swim past. Inside is okay, but it used to be a Jimmy spice world and it does have a feeling still of a bit of a restaurant rather than a bar. But it is a large open space which allows dogs and babies and also has live music and comedy during the evening, which on a Friday can be quite loud, so if your going for a catch up with friends check what is on first as you probably wouldn't manage a whole night in there if you wanted to catch up. They do food during the week which is pizza, which is good bar food, not a let's go here for a special occasion but at the prices you probably would understand that. The beer changes fairly regularly, they have about 10 draft beer taps and 3-5 cask pumps. They also do soft drinks, wines and spirits. I like this place and visit once or twice a month and hope that it can continue to serve the people of Staines over the years.

I don’t visit Staines, yet found myself in town on a shopping trip and looking for a beer in town on a rainy day. A scan of pubs in the area found me and the missus at the Last Hop by the river. The venue was a large space and I’m sure it would’ve been even better on a nicer day with the lovely riverside view. There was a great selection of beers by keg or cask. There was also a stage space where I’d assume bands play regularly. The playlist was great was a mixture of indie/rock music playing and the place was very relaxed with an alternative feel where everyone was welcome. I had to be talked out of bidding for the Hard-Fi posters on the wall after a couple of pints of Republika 😂. If it’s good enough for Rich and the boys it’s good enough for me. This would be my first port of call on the next trip to Staines. The only downside is it’s not more local for me.

Food smelled good, but couldn’t try it because they had a massive party and weren’t doing food. Which is fine, but they had a chalk sign out front saying “pizza in here” and that now they serve burgers. And we waited a long time just to find this out, because the bartenders kept avoiding me (probably because I had two kids with me). I don’t mind them having a private event, but don’t have a special sign out advertising your food if no one can have any that night.

The let down of this venue can’t be put into words! Having visited & enjoyed this venue numerous times, and watching its growth from a small brewery to the place it is today, my family & I couldn’t of thought of a better venue to host a surprise birthday party for a member of family…WORST idea we could’ve come up with! After 7 months of planning, multiple promises of an amazing night…they double booked us!!! But not by accident…INTENTIONALLY!! We had live music booked (independently) to which we found out they have sold another group (80 people) the promise of watching!!! Luckily we found out the day before, to which the arrogant, rude, frankly insensitive ‘Manager’ gave sarcastic responses to us trying to find a solution!!!! The saddest thing about this is the beer and previous experiences were brilliant…however I cannot stress enough…if you’re thinking of using this place as an event venue, DO NOT TRUST THEM AND DO NOT DO IT!!! They don’t care about you, your group or your event, just how many more people they can cram in and...
