Good bakery items, but very unprofessional and rude staff
So I had heard all the hype about this bakery, seen the queues and heard great things from online communities about The Jolly Baker. To give credit where it's due, everything I had from here was great, hence I had to give it at least 2*.
Here is the part I had a problem with: I went in to the store on Saturday and wanted to find out what meat was in the Steak slice (or pastry?). The first lady seemed like she was new at the job, because she couldn't identify which one it was, but that's not a problem at all. She asked the second person who pointed out which one it is and replied to me "It's Steak". I said, "Yes, I understand that, but is it beef or something else?" I know they are usually beef, but I just wanted to be double sure because I don't eat pork and I have seen steak pastries which are pork/beef mixed.
She kept saying "It's Steak" and then asked the third lady, who seemed to be either the manager or the most senior person on duty at the time. Again, she kept saying "It's steak". I again asked her "Is it beef, chicken, or pork or something else?" But she still didn't understand that "Steak" is a type of cut that could be from any meat.
I had to end up asking "From what animal is it?" to which she finally replied "A cow".
All of this is not a problem to me and I would've been fine, but the 3 of them then turned to each other and started laughing at my questioning. This was incredibly unprofessional and straight out rude. Who laughs at their customers for asking about the ingredients of something? I should've walked straight out of the store, but I didn't.
ADVICE: It is still (somewhat) acceptable if you don't know the ingredients of all your items (it could happen to any of us), but laughing at customers for asking a serious question is...

Read moreI used to go to this shop almost daily. The food itself is good.especially the bread.
Unfortunately the last time that I went in the shop it was being run by 17 year olds who didn't seem to have any training. When I was there I witnessed one of them drop a bottle on the floor and after picking it up, they went on to make someone a sandwich without washing their hands first. I asked for a pre-made sandwich to be warmed up and they removed all of the contents of the sandwich onto a tray, put it in the oven and then afterwards proceeded to put them onto the cold bread.... Unfortunately one of the contents was a cheese slice which had stuck to the tray.
In fairness on previous visits there has been at least one person which I would consider an adult serving. But I guess it's cheaper to employ 17 year olds. After my last experience, I won't...
