What a shame!!! We ordered starters and mains with a bottle of wine. The younger lady serving us was polite and friendly. Starters were fine but then the issues started, my wife ordered Grouper & Crab, I had the Pork tomahawk, when my wife started to eat she instantly said there’s coriander in this which she hates with a passion, I asked the waitress if there was as there was no mention on the menu, she went and asked the chef and yes there was, we weren’t given any option to change the meal, then an older lady possibly the manager or owner came over and started in an abrupt manor asking what the problem was, not wishing to make a scene at the table in front of the other dinners I said I’d discuss at the till shortly. I’d already mentioned to my wife that my “Tomahawk” was really nothing more than a pork chop, a good size but never the less not a Tomahawk, I even googled it at the table to show my wife. We ended the meal and left the table to pay. The same older lady was waiting, this time she’s was full on defensive mode, said that chef could use whatever they wanted without listing it, I explained that the menu clearly indicated that other dishes had Garlic or Chive oil so why not list a strong and powerful herb like coriander? She just repeated herself over again, she then moved to my meal, saying “so yours was alright” to which I said it was ok however the Tomahawk was not a true tomahawk it was a pork chop, well that did not go down well!!!! She ranted on that it was a “French trimmed Tomahawk” and said I should google it, I explained that I eat these regularly and that I had indeed googled it, she then said she’d get the invoices and show me, then she said she’d get the chefs out of the kitchen all in a very very aggressive tone and manor. At this point my wife was uncomfortable with the situation so I just asked to pay, so we could leave, at no point was there an apology or the word sorry just a full on rant! When we got back to our hotel staff asked if we’d had a nice meal, when we explained they did say that she could be like that !!🤷♂️🤷♂️ What a shame owners / managers don’t feel the need to show great customer care when little things go wrong and then blow them out...
Read moreWe've been here before, when visiting family who live locally, and love the food, so I booked a particular favourite table for lunch for the 4 of us this week. When we arrived my booking didn't show - by mistake I'd booked for the following day (I blame Christmas Bank Holiday confusion!) The staff were kind and understanding about it, and by an amazing piece of luck in the full restaurant, were able to offer us a table about to be left by other diners, which happened to be exactly the table we'd wanted, a huge relief! As always, the food was delicious (the From the Ground Grazing Plate is my favourite) and the staff were welcoming, efficient, and friendly. Read moreVisited here last week with child and other half… was greeted like peasants because I’m walking clothes and been out in the rain ( given garstangs walking community and farmers in the area we didn’t think the dress code would be a issue) shoved to the back of the restaurant waiting 55 minutes for food to come out - didn’t get the bread we was told we would get Was given two glasses when there was three of us , we asked twice for a extra glass it never came 3.child finished meal Before our mains even came out Child pudding came out burnt how do you burn a pancake that took 20 minutes to come out?
