Avanti Coffee House — Restaurant in Bradford

We visited Avanti last weekend and felt compelled to write this review. On our visit the food and coffee was of a high quality, and the cafe itself had a nice ambience. However, our experience was ruined by the uncomfortable atmosphere created by the manager on duty. You could clearly see that the staff were working very hard and running around like headless chickens, given that the cafe was so busy! The service wasn't the best, but this was understandable given the circumstances. What ruined the experience for us however was witnessing the disrespectful and deregotary way the manager kept speaking to her staff. We were sat near the coffee machine and overheard numerous patronising comments directed towards the staff behind the bar, who were clearly overrun with orders, and to be honest this made us feel very uncomfortable to witness throughout our visit.

Avanti is a lovely spot but it's clear their management lack respect for their staff. As a couple who has worked in the hospitality industry for years, we would not return for this reason, as it left a very bad taste in our mouths.

Ordered the muffin with poached eggs, sausage and bacon, with a cappuccino.

The service was initially okay, but as soon as the food came, no one checked in or spoke to me once, even when I left.

As for the food, the bacon was good, the poached eggs were hard and not runny and the sausage was small and a bit burnt.

The coffee was very good and well presented.

When I finished the food, the plate was just taken off the table, again with no interaction.

I was asked to pay upfront and decided not to leave a tip initially, until I'd finished, I am glad I didn't tip now.

I appreciate days like today can be busy, but getting the basics right and providing some level of customer service is important, especially when you are paying more premium prices.

Maybe I slipped through...

Visited today it was very busy but maybe table 13 was an omen. Our order was taken with a 20 minute wait for food we asked for our pot on tea while we waited. No tea came we watched other tables seated after us getting both food and drinks. When we asked about our drinks for the 3rd time and waited someone came to say the had lost our order we should have got up and gone. after a further wait our food eventually came followed by the tea. We understood how busy they were and would have been happy with a simple sorry for the delay but there was none and then a further wait when we requested the bill with eventually going inside to wait again to pay the bill made us feel like a total...
