Franco's Continental — Restaurant in Bradford

That's not how you want to run business!!! I was out for a nice walk(bike ride) to Saltare, when I saw that place. My first impression was "great" , I was so happy, that I had a chance to get a "freshly grounded Italian coffee". Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do it, because after I entered that place, I ordered a single espresso, The man on the counter told me, that I can't stay, because I don't have cash and he will not accept card payment for just a few pounds. I completely understand, that sometimes small businesses are hard to operate and it is not worth it to accept card payment for small amounts. But they are much more polite and business oriented ways to tell that to your customers, especially that one, who visits your store for the first time! Do I recommend that place - no. Is the coffee good enough - no idea, could be, but it will be sour with that kind of...

We didn't book but the place didn't look busy as plenty of choice for seating. Outside was empty when we arrived as a party of 4 for breakfast. We ordered 2 big breakfasts and 2 salmon bagels. The owner (we think) came out and quite aggressively told us that there wasn't enough bacon for a big breakfast and that we would have to have small ones. Breakfast took almost an hour to arrive and when it did, the owner (?) said 'i'm not being funny but in future you need to book, I have too many people to serve' , he made us feel very unwelcome. If we had been told when ordering that they couldn't accommodate us as they were too busy (?) we would have understood and left but nothing was said and the order was accepted. We had arrived in the town and wanted somewhere for an evening meal away from our hotel, after passing a few restaurants we came across Franco's and managed to find parking relatively close by Wednesday had not booked and we're pleasantly surprised to be offered a table. The restaurant was well appointed with plentiful staff on hand. Everyone was pleasant and attentive. Incredibly efficient and organised. The meal was excellent and superbly presented.(even my friend's son who is an exceptionally fussy eater enjoyed it!) Definitely top of our list if we should ever return to the area Highly...
