The Location is absolutely stunning. The Fleece Inn is directly on Haworth's main tourist street going up to the Bronte Parsonage and the church. If you want to see Haworth, there is no where better to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We never had a bad day or night of service in our 4 days there, all of them know their stuff, know how to serve, know the area, know their beers and know how to treat regulars, tourists or random walkups with respect. The rooms are a nice size and the bathrooms are very modern and clean. There is a seperate entrance if you want to slip in without going through the pub itself. The breakfast is amazing with a wide array of choices and they even accomodate your whimsical requests like substituting black pudding for another sausage. The evening meals are just as good and lovingly and freshly prepared. The selection of drinks is absolutely amazing for anyone who likes ales and ciders. The atmossphere is lovely. You meet regulars from Haworth and the surrounding areas and tourists like yourself and if you want you will always find someone to have conversation with.||||Really the only thing that could be improved is the window situation. Given that it was unusually hot when we were there the two small windows at the top that you can sort of open a bit just don't provide enough air circulation to effectively cool down the room at night. Now I know it's an English problem but I do think that there are options to choose from nowadays that keep the look of the windows but allow for a window which can be properly opened. It was really unbearably hot the first couple of days. That's my pet peeve though and if you can stand the heat you...
Read moreIf i had the option for 0 star rating I would have chosen it. Not the first time myself and my family have experienced wierd unwelcoming behaviour in this pub. First instance was when my mum and dad visited, purchased drinks, had a meal, only for a waitress to dump a reserved sign on their table as soon as they had finished said meal and basically tell them they will have to sit somewhere else. Yesterday I decided to visit my family who live in oxenhope, we thought it would be a lovely idea to visit the fleece inn as their menu looked to have some tasty food on it. As we entered we turned to the right hand side of the pub and sat down in the little room. This room was empty so we managed to get a table to seat all 4 of us with my baby girl in her pushchair at the end. A waitress came over and asked if we were having just drinks, to which we informed her that we would like to also have a meal too. 10 minutes later we are then being told that I cant have my baby in the pushchair and she will need to be placed in a highchair. Im sorry? Who are these people to dictate what I do with my own child? We weren't blocking any fire exits, we weren't taking up loads of room, the pub was empty apart from 2 other customers who ALSO HAD PUSHCHAIRS. Clearly their faces fit. We handed our menus back and told them we will eat elsewhere. Such wierd behaviour. We had a lovely meal in the black Bull at the top of townstreet though and I can also highly recommend the sun inn pub for fabulous food, service and friendliness. Avoid this pub if your...
Read moreVery strange pub and one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. Hopefully it was just a very bad day! Great location, very good food and dog friendly... but the staff, management and policies... they were not good! I'd made a group booking and payed a deposit of £5 per head, told we could have our own separate dining room, brilliant. Rang the week before to increase the booking by 2, paid another £10, then rang again the day before, another £5. On the day 2 people who couldn't make it. Arrived to celebrate our special birthday to a lovely side room and moved a few seats around so we could sit closer together. A waitress came to ask if we wanted the deposit back or taken off the bill, I asked for it back. She could easily have asked who'd made the booking and asked me quietly. Embarrassingly she came back and said they'd taken £10 off because of the 2 cancellations and unused space despite already saying the room was ours with the original booking. Half way through our meal they brought another family into our 'private dining room' without any notice! Quietly went to the bar to complain, no apology, no smile, deadpan barmaid said she'd get someone to talk to me but after 10 mins wait I went back to our party, of course the original waitress came back and announced in front of everyone, I could have the £10 back. Obviously the owner/manager was far too busy to talk to me or just didn't care. The pic was taken from a distance as that's the closest I'll get...
