*Unwelcoming and Rude Service Ruins Family Visit My family and I had an extremely disappointing experience at this coffee shop in Haworth during what was meant to be a pleasant day out. As first-time visitors, we hoped for a warm, family-friendly atmosphere but encountered impatience and rudeness that shocked us. My wife, our two young children, and I approached the counter to order lunch and drinks. Admittedly, we took a moment to decide on bread options for the sandwiches as I was juggling our kids’ requests. Instead of showing understanding, the middle-aged woman behind the counter began huffing and puffing audibly, visibly annoyed at our brief delay. When I politely asked for a moment to finalise our choices, she *stormed off* mid-order, declaring she “wasn’t dealing with us.” Her dismissive attitude was appalling—especially toward a family with young children simply trying to enjoy a meal together. Frustrated and embarrassed, I cancelled our order with her colleague and left. We took our business to a nearby fish and chips shop, where the staff was kind, patient, and accommodating—proof that hospitality isn’t hard to get right. This coffee shop’s lack of basic courtesy and professionalism ensured we never returned. Families deserve patience, not hostility when dining out. Save your time and money—there are far friendlier places in Haworth happy to welcome you

Had lunch at this little café bakery while exploring Haworth. It's located near the top of the cobbled main street, close to the church and the path leading to the parsonage. Family friendly and dog friendly. It was Sunday and very busy, but I managed to get a table right next to the window. The café was clean, with pleasing modern decor and a comfy leather banquette along one wall. Toilets with baby changing facilities are at the back of the café. There were two queues, one for ordering meals to eat in and another for takeaway. The young staff were both pleasant and efficient, and I was served quickly. The varied lunch menu includes breakfasts, soup, sandwiches, pizzas and big square Yorkshire puddings with a choice of fillings. Opted for a Yorkshire pudding with two butcher's sausages, mixed veg and lashings of gravy. It was well cooked, hot and very filling. Nice strong pot of tea. They do some traditional Yorkshire desserts for afters, but I was just too full! Some lovely cakes and baked savouries displayed on the counter too, and there were packets of biscuits and preserves that would make good gifts. Bought a couple of pork pies, freshly baked and still warm, to take home. Overall a nice, affordable place to have lunch.

Yesterday I finally got to try the #afternoontea. At first I was surprised that I had to make so many decisions on what was included in the meal. But in truth it made it do much more special. I went in with my 84 year old aunt and was lucky enough to get a window table. It does get busy, but the turn around is fast. My aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed our tea, although we did end up taking some of it home. We loved the sandwiches, the pie and the desserts. And we enjoyed watching people pass by. Great value and friendly service from Claire, Charlotte, Opal and Hannah. Please forgive me if I messed up on your name. You were all lovely. Now we just need to work on the one voice that did not say #SconeAsInGone!! Thank you. You made our day special!

30/3/24 I attended with my family consisting of 5 adults, 2 children and twin newborns. It was lunchtime on bank holiday weekend and granted very busy. On entry, before sitting down or queuing to order we asked one of the ladies behind the till if she could accommodate us being a big group with a chunky twin pram.

She showed us to a 6 seater table and pulled us a chair on the end so everyone could be seated.

With that, my Aunty queued and payed for our cakes and coffee (ÂŁ40 for all of us and the cakes and coffee were all well made and delicious)

We sat down and tucked in. As we were tucking in the table to the side of us left, the staff turned it over for a group of 5 people. As they were sitting down, a different, older lady stood in-front of our table and practically shouted at my mum for sitting on the end of the table as it goes against fire safety.

Now, her point was very valid and of course non arguable. However, when we explained that the younger lady had directed us to sit here she said ‘no she didn’t’ very loud and argumentative drawing embarrassing attention to me and my family. The loud, attention seeking conversation went on for about 5 minutes consisting of her taking no responsibility for her staff and the situation at hand as she was ‘on lunch when we came in’ and resulted in my sister, who has just had major abdominal surgery, standing so my mum could finish her scone seated.

  1. ALL STAFF should be trained in fire safety and we should have never have been seated there.

  2. This issue could have been promptly resolved with a quiet conversation causing no embarrassment.

  3. I unfortunately didn’t get the loud ladies name but I think she could benefit from problem solving and customer service training as the whole situation was handled incorrectly.

It goes without saying that we found your staff unprofessional and unaccommodating and we shall...

Lovely popular cafe/coffee house. Offering a vast selection of beverages from coffee, herbal teas, bottled, canned chilled drinks, soup of the day, to fresh smoothies! Cakes, buns and delicious treats, including scones and Gluten free alternatives are also available. I wanted the Baked potato with chilli but alas the baked potatoes were all sold out. I can see why, as this too offered many variations ( tuna, cheese etc) and was supported by a gorgeous fresh salad...all beautifully presented.

Unfortunately I chose the sausage, bacon, egg, beans and chips. I don't like egg but had high hopes for the rest of the meal, given the standard of food on other tables. The sausage was the cheapest catering sausage you could buy and I know up North there is a liking for crisp bacon but I could not saw through it with my knife! If your shoe sole needed replacing you couldn't find a better replacement. Nutritionally, the protein on the plate was negligible. The rock hard bacon, I guess due to it returning to carbon form, it will do a good colonic cleanse. Do not opt for the bacon if you have loose teeth or dentures as it will be a very expensive meal. I didn't get luck of the draw, my partner's plate was tougher than mine but he did get my egg in compensation. My partner rated the Cappuccino as the best part of his meal. He gave the cappuccino 5 star and only highlight to his meal. I unfortunately didn't have a cappuccino, so missed out on that highlight.

We left disappointed and hungry after such a promising start. Even a greasy spoon provides better in food quality. I think the bacon if not so overcooked actually was a quality slice but there was no meat to...

Really sorry to leave a review like this, but we had a very poor experience today at Villette and the exact same thing happened last time we went, so I feel like it's worth a mention. We went in just wanting to quickly buy a couple of the large novelty biscuits they have on display in the window. Should've taken less than a minute. There were five or six staff milling around behind the counter but only one or two of them seemed to be doing any work. A waitress said to us "I'll be with you in a minute" but then had to go and take a large order from one of those annoying families who wanted about 40 wanky coffees, each one containing a different combination of milks and syrups. So we stood patiently for what felt like an ice age (maybe 10 minutes) whilst the one waitress took the order and all the other staff stood around leaning against the counters or walls watching. Eventually two ladies walked toward us and I thought they were going to take our order, but no, they went outside and started faffing around with the Christmas tree. At this point we thought they clearly don't want or need our business, so we left. Like I said at the start, I don't really enjoy leaving this sort of review, but as it's the second time it's happened I think the manager / owner needs to be aware of this. I wanted to email them discretely but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing so, so unfortunately I have to air my dirty laundry on Google for all to see. I was so annoyed that I wanted to leave them a one star review, but I'm not a total bellend so awarded two stars to give them the benefit...
