Came in slightly early and we're sat at a table right by the door which was fairly uncomfortable as there was a constant draft when people were coming in and leaving. We sat there from when we came in roughly 10 minutes early and waited for 50 minutes before our order was taken - by which point the table that came in after us were already finishing their starters. When our starters came I waited roughly five minutes looking around trying to catch a waiters eye I had order a white wine and cream mussel starter and was given the wrong sauce which was tomato the other option I was hungry and decided to eat them, mussels were not washed properly and beards were not taken off full of grit which is important when preparing any shellfish especially bottom feeders like mussels. The glass of wine I had was lovely and probably really the only highlight of our meal. After explaining there was grit in the mussels to the waiter our mains came out very quickly and piping hot. Not only that but during the interim between nobody came over and offered us limoncello - like they did with other people. My girlfriend's steak was beautifully cooked but completely under seasoned, and potatoes were not very nice and sauce was very weak. My seafood linguine was watery, everything apart from the pasta was cooked to oblivion all the shellfish was rubbery. Waiter asked about everything, if it wasn't for the fact it was my girlfriend's birthday and she asked me not to create a scene, I would have been very clear about how poor this was. I paid for everything including service charge which I really didn't think was at all not even in the slightest bit deserved. It was busy and I gathered there was a party upstairs. But it is down on you to judge bookings and organise everything in a timely manner to ensure good service and good food for everyone. We felt completely disregarded in comparison to everyone, and really no effort was made to rectify what I had said about the mussels. I feel sick and I really hope it is nothing to do with the food especially the mussels which were not WASHED at all. Covered in barnacles. Considering all the rave stuff everyone has said about this place I expected a half decent evening and you provided us with the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Especially at the price point. I paid an eye watering 90 pounds for four courses a glass of wine and a sprite - which I will never get back. Really disappointed and saddened a local place is like this, I really wanted to get behind you guys and eat with you regularly but definitely not after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy partnerās parents visited us from Ireland for the first time since Covid. It was a very special occasion as it was my first time meeting them, so I thought as they love Italian food, it would be a good idea to take them to Tarantinoās. I have been living in Brentwood a few years but never had the chance to try it so I decided to take them there.
Overall the Restaurant was loud, incredibly loud!!!!! Music super high volume, staff talking next to us so loudly and a never ending phone ringing next to us.
My mother in law has a dairy allergy, and wanted to order something simple as the menu didn't have much dairy free choice. We asked for Grilled Chicken, chips and tomato sauce to make sure we were not being difficult. The Waitress made my mother in law feel so awkward about it, as I had to repeat the order so many times that it was really embarrassing, feeling very uncomfortable.
I requested the manager to come and double check the order was taken correctly as our waitress looked really confused with the grilled chicken and chips. The Manager never came... The stress and rush of the staff working that night was painful to watch. The Staff were not listening or giving any customer experience just running like headless chickens everywhere, making it impossible to place drink orders.
The restaurants phone kept ringing incredibly loud next to us throughout our visit. We asked if it was possible to turn the volume down or someone to asnwer the phone? It was a completely awful location for the phone to be in. Our waitress informed the manager (in Italian) who was next to us in the bar, the manager replied to the waitress in Italian saying: "what is wrong with them/they are annoying" luckily I speak Italian so I perfectly undertood what they said. When our waitress came back I made sure she knew I was an Italian speaker.
Clearly their comments were heard and the manager kept coming to check on us after that incident thinking that would had make things a bit lighter? But already the experiemce was ruined!
As a restaurant manager who has been working in London for the last 8 years I have never come across with such an unprofessional and lack of customer service by the FOH and especially the manager?
It was absolutely unacceptable the way they behave and as a Brentwood resident I was so embarrassed to bring my family In law to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've always heard good things about this place so decided to get dinner here. Outside tables available in the sun so we took our seats without any booking.
Bald waiter didn't greet us but ordered us to check in with the NHS check in app even though we were sitting outside, this didn't happen to the other new customers, just us (it definitely was not requested to the ongoing number of Italian customers that went through the doors or the people who picked up their takeaways inside!) He was very unfriendly and uninviting from the get go.
Waiting times for ordering was long, we accepted this as this is 'Italian style.' (However it was noted the Italian customers would be served first and foremost).
This is where it gets weird: The waiter spilled cola and broke the glass all over the table and largely soaked the entirety onto my dress! Jumped out of my seat with shock. However, it was barely acknowledged by him. Wasn't given anything to wipe or clean with, he wasn't apologetic. Customers around us were shocked and a kind customer gave me her cloth napkin to clean up with.
Food was good, similar to Bella Italia and the likes, with London prices.
The waiter's behaviour continued to be uninviting and off after the spillage. Incredibly bizarre. Only once we paid the bill, the waiter apologised for what happened and offered a free drink as 'the boss' has offered this because of the spillage. We kindly declined as it was a bit too little too late to rectify the situation, the whole event was bizarre! Compensation would have been preferred, however I understand due to Covid this may not be a move possible for those in the hospitality industry. (Also noted we were charged £4.20 per a pint of coke however one of our menus state the cost was £3.20).
2 stars because times are tough for restaurants at the moment and we really would like to revisit and hopefully we were not just caught on a 'bad day'. We are big supporters of local businesses š as we too have our own local...
