Very very poor customer service. I eat out a lot, so know how important a warm and welcoming attitude of the restaurant staff and good customer service is, in making your eating out experience more enjoyable. I ordered takeaway from this restaurant on New Years Day. While my partner prefers curries to be on the mild side, I prefer them with a bit more heat. As our order was large, I wanted the person taking our order to summarize at the end, so as to ensure everything was taken down correctly, which is quite standard practice frankly. However for some reason, this flustered the gentleman at the other end of the phone no end and his tone got very patronizing, which gave me no confidence that my order was taken down correctly. When I pointed this out to him, he hung up saying 'don't worry we will look after you'! Anyway when I arrived to pick up my order, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and struck a conciliatory tone, but he was in no mood for any friendly banter, instead saying 'when customers call us with specific requirements, we tell them to cook their own curry at home'! Wow! Is this really what you are telling your customers (asking for food to be less or more hot is hardly a complicated dietary requirement). I was expecting a lot from this place, especially with all the positive reviews, but was sadly left very disappointed in the end. The food was not stellar either. I definitely won't be returning here...
Read moreNot sure if we have just had this on an off day or too close to all the bank holidays, but genuinely dont understand the positive reviews from our experience. Maybe this is more an eat in kind of place, which unfortunately was not an option ofc. We ordered around £80 worth of food on 2nd Jan. I cant say anything nice about any of it unfortunately. Curry tasted old- the tikka masala was horribly sweet, unlike any I've ever had before. None of the curries were remotely spicy and it seemed the same sauce had been used in a lot of them. Bland, tasteless food. Bhajis were so disappointing- again had obviously been cooked a long time ago and reheated in a microwave- tough and greasy. Samosas frozen tiny ones, not fresh or hand made. We also ordered kebabs but they didnt arrive- probably best. These were refunded but even then, when calling to report this missing item, there was a bit of resistance to refunding it and I was asked am I sure it's missing as the bag has been checked. Didnt like the implication that I would lie about a missing item over a fiver on such an expensive order.
Overall, terrible experience and we will not be ordering from here again. I'd encourage everyone to order from Pink Garlic which is lovely. I regret changing from my usual trusted Indian...
Read moreIf I could give Zero stars I would. Thought we would try it via a Groupon. Tuned up and found out it did t serve alcohol, not a problem as no big drinker but was looking forward to a glass of wine with my curry, First served with a couple of starters, chicken Samosa was still frozen inside and had to be returned. Service was appalling. Obviously not enough staff. Main dishes were mediocre. Maybe we didn't order the right thing, but Normally don't have an issue in Indians as we are pretty open minded and spend time chatting with staff on which dishes are the best, Then to top it off the bill came and the place was so loud the guy said £40. Considering I paid for a Groupon I expected it to be cheaper. Guy took our money and I snapped a quick pic of the bill. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Got home and checked the image and the bill said £14. Bloke was happy to take our £40 and not say a word! Or bring back change. Overpriced. Won't...
