Pay for water!!! A desi place where they don't serve tap water as drink is not desi enough.
Big restaurants do, pubs do. But chaiiwala won't give you tap water.
I go here once a month, always with people.
29 March 2023, 10pm. Bristol, Easton.
Asked the guy Mr A at the till if this is a recent thing because I have been served tap water before. he said this is a directive from the management, and the employees have been asked NOT to serve tap water anymore.
If this is true, then this place sucks!!!
I see People bring their food and drinks to eat there. Not a word said about that. Once seen some guy dropping his take away dinner from his table on the floor by mistake. Felt very sorry for that guy though it was food from outside. But they won't give tap water to drink while you have ordered 30£ worth of food and tea. Had to buy the bottle of water.
I just hope it's not because I didn't speak a certain language.
Not going to this place until the management change this policy.
I am done here.
Don't bloody copy paste your reply which you post to every review. Do something about it.
Dude replied asking for details.
The question is simple. Are you going to continue to refuse to...
Read moreFirst time experiencing Chaiiwala. Reading the reviews, I have to admit I expected much more. The interiors are very nice. But beware, as you enter, there is a step. I stumbled on it and affected my back. First thing I noticed was one of the tables had food all over the floor. Unfortunately, the second thing I witnessed was the toilet. What a mess. Floor full of water. Sink was blocked with toilet roll. Top it, no toilet roll. Unhygienic and off-putting.
When I come to a Resturant, I expect hygiene to be the top most priority. The first impressions left me wondering what is the state of their kitchen?!
The pink tea is delicious.
I am a vegetarian and I found their menu limiting. As we were a group, we managed to order most vegetarian dishes. First two options we chose; out of stock. The few options left - disappointing. The veg roll - took a bite and left it. The pav bhaji - was ok - wouldn’t recommend it. Thali and Jeevans are probably better options for vegetarian food. Price was ok. The quality of food was not up to the mark.
Maybe they should stick to cakes and their drinks - which were nice. I will not be going back. I think the “chaiiwala” brand...
Read moreI’ve visited this café in both Bristol and London a few times, but my recent visit to the Bristol location has really put me off. The experience was quite disappointing. I ordered non-spicy fries for my child, but they were served spicy—definitely not what I had asked for. The kebab roll was another letdown: the kebabs were dry and tough, almost like they were reheated from frozen, rather than freshly prepared. It’s frustrating because if I wanted frozen food, I’d make it at home. The veg nashta was lackluster and not at all satisfying. The staff forgot my chai and had to remind them again.
What really soured the experience, though, was the staff's attitude at the till. Instead of being friendly and attentive, they seemed disinterested and almost as if they were doing us a favor by serving us. It really felt like there was no effort to make customers feel welcome or valued.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place unless they make some serious improvements to both the food quality and the service. It’s clear they could do much better if they took the time to genuinely care about their customers' experience.
Hate to give 1 star as no option to...
