A quite horrific experience. My girlfriend bought me the Groupon pie and mash experience at Cotham Porter Stores as an anniversary present. She rang up and reserved a Chicken and Leek pie and a Moo pie for friday evening. When we got there, the barman told us that Moo pie was ok, but that the Vegetarian pie was "on the turn and that he couldn't serve it to us". We pointed out that we didn't order the vegetarian pie and we had ordered the Chicken and Leek pie, please. He then went off downstairs, came back and disappeared upstairs. Then he said that he was very sorry but there were no chicken and leek pies, but there was a Moo pie. "We will have two then, please", we said. "Sorry", he said, "but there is only one Moo pie". It turned out that although there were four types of pie on the menu, he actually only had 1 pie. "I do have a chicken pie, but it is gluten free and it doesn't have leeks in it", he said. "So how come if you serve pies, you don't have any supply?", we asked with amazement. "Oh", he said, "They were all mouldy, so we threw them away". At that point, we practically threw our hands up in horror, thanked the gods he only had one Moon pie and we left! We then had dinner in Cosmo thinking we had escaped a dreadful fate. Pies on the turn....mouldy pies being thrown away. We listened to "Master of the House" from Les Miserables in the car on the way home. How it seemed like the Cotham...

Various craft gins and rums along with the standard spirits. Popular quiz night on a Thursday evening. There are Pieminister pies and bar snacks for the hungry. Read moreThis pub serves the finest cask ale in the area. I know this because I drink ale at all the local pubs on a regular basis and the cellaring standards here are superior. The Vaults can be a bit hit and miss; the Green Man often serves ale at almost room temperature. But here in the CPS you get cellar coolness and all the creaminess and lacing that are the hallmark of cask ale in top notch condition. If you get served an average or worse pint at a nearby pub, vote with your feet and...
