On first arrival, we were told 30 min wait for a table however there were empty seats, this is fine as I understand staggering booking, however we had to press to be added to digital queue. After being added the queue it took 10 mins to get the message that our table was ready.

We were seated down, however there was zero interaction for over ten mins, repeated tried to flag the waitress, then a waitress who I assumed was the manager (as she told us she’d instructed another waitress to come take our order, who acknowledged us but then went to another table took their order instead) came to take our order.

Ordered food, told by waitress burgers come medium, which is okay, not what we are familiar with from london but perhaps assumed it was a bristol specific catering rule.

Chicken tenders were fried beyond edible and tiny. I asked the server who later identified herself as the manager (blonde hair, glasses, mullet) what her opinion was about the tenders and she suggested without prompting that they were inedible and a new portion would be sent.

Receive mains. Burger in gluten free bun is cold and raw inside. I’m familiar with medium rare (not what we were told we had to be served) and the patty was cold and raw inside. Health hazard, reported to health inspector.

I tried to get a servers attention but after five minutes had to walk to the front bar with the burger to flag issue. Burger was taken away, and after ten minutes new one brought out and waitress informed us that the kitchen felt as though the burger was adequately cooked to medium rare (both not what we were instructed was what we had to receive, not was the burger even close to this). Had to remind the waitress about the inedible chicken tenders.

At this point our meal experience is terrible, but not once has someone come over to check if our experience has improved.

After finishing our meal it took over ten mins to try and get the bill. I asked for both the bill and to speak with the manager, and to my surprise the manager was the person I’d first complained about the chicken tenders to. She had no idea we hadn’t received an edible portion, nor checked on us as she’d been present when I brought the raw burger to the front desk. She had all the managerial skills of a first day front of house staff, and when I expressed my frustrations to her, her response was “so what is it you want, everything for free I assume.” which an attitude that implied we were trying to get something for nothing.

I said no, I would pay for my food as it was edible but my partners food should be free as it was raw, and really we should be comped the round of drinks as we didn’t receive any service whatsoever. We were told we were sat in “a restaurant blind spot”, the restaurant is open plan and smaller than most london branches, and they were “one server down”, which may be true but didn’t make sense to me as I witnessed multiple staff just chatting at the front bar all evening.

After leaving, having only my girlfriends raw burger and the inedible chicken removed from the bill, I was treated with hostility by the management and made to feel like we were in the wrong for contesting our sub...

I didn’t mean to eat at Honest Burger. I rarely mean to do anything in Bristol, really — I sort of just wash up here now and then like a wayward trawler, full of vague plans and fishy regrets. But as burger lunches go, the best ones are almost always an accident, born not of intent but of hunger, happenstance, and the simple lure of something fried and handheld.

So it was last Wednesday. My mate and I, drifting through Corn Street like bored Dickensian flâneurs, spotted the £8.95 burger and chips offer chalked on the board like a siren’s call to the meat-hungry and time-poor. And bugger me, it was good. Actually, no — it was very good.

Now, I’ve had burgers in Bristol before. And they’ve mostly been beige things — forgettable, joyless rounds of meat, half-heartedly flopped into a bun and grinning at you with limp lettuce and shame. But this one? This was different. A proper smashburger, all glorious Maillard crunch and fat-slicked edges, juicy but not greasy, rich but not cloying. The kind of burger that tastes like it remembers being a cow. And liked it.

Fries were the quiet star — rosemary salt, crispy edges, none of that flaccid chip shop sulkiness you get elsewhere. They came out golden and proud, as if they’d been triple-fried by angels with degrees from Le Cordon Bleu and a weed habit.

The room buzzed with the sort of midweek energy you only get when people are pretending not to be hungover at lunch. Service quick, the room full, the whole vibe brisk and cheerful — no one lingering, no one trying to pretend this is more than it is. Which is, frankly, what every great burger place should be.

So yes, well done Honest. You’ve managed that rarest of things — a burger that tastes like someone gave a damn. I shall be back. Possibly even on...

I recently visited Honest Burger restaurant in Bristol and had a satisfying experience overall. The burger I ordered was undeniably delicious, although I found the size of the patty to be on the smaller side. Next time, I might consider ordering a double burger to satisfy my appetite. I appreciate that they accommodated my preference for a burger without bread.

The service at Honest Burger was nice, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The preparation time for our food was reasonable, taking around 20 minutes, which allowed us to enjoy a fresh meal without waiting excessively.

The waiters at the restaurant were lovely, creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. We ordered onion rings, coleslaw, and wings as sides, which complemented our meal nicely.

While there were some mistakes in our order, with some items being extra and others missing, the staff handled the situation in a professional manner and rectified the errors promptly. This level of service and willingness to fix mistakes demonstrated their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Taking everything into consideration, I would recommend Honest Burger for its delicious burgers, friendly service, and willingness to address any issues that may arise. Although there were a few minor hiccups with the order, the overall experience was positive, and I would be happy to visit again...
