Latimer's Sandwich Co — Restaurant in Bristol

Yesterday I had the good fortune to go in to Latimer's Sandwich at 173 Whiteladies Road in Redland, Bristol. This was brunch at the end of a busy morning.

I ordered a Chicken Caesar Baguette, with extra bacon, butter and salad in crusty brown bread and a latte. It was a delight.

The chicken and bacon were sublime and the lettuce crisp. The bread was the right sort of crusty on the outside and wonderfully soft inside, a perfect balance to the lovely butter.

I usually prefer my latter with whole milk to offset the bitter taste of poor coffee, this time I had semi-skimmed and the coffee was perfect, lots of flavour and no bitterness.

Unfortunately, for the past 3 years or so, Latimer's has become a sorry version of itself. Much fewer products on offer, so much so that they retired a display counter that used to be full of pastries, pies, quiches and such. The cheese and onion panini I had today was abysmal, now it's a very thin layer of just cheese and some chopped red onion whereas few years ago it was full of melted three cheese and spring onion , overflowing from inside the hot panini. Today the edges didn't even have any filling. Sugar was very scarce inside just one container in the whole shop and the stirring wooden strips as thin as a toothpick. Inside was dark and sad. We sat outside at a very wobbly table. The lady serving us was nice and the food cheap enough, yes, but I'd prefer to pay more for decent quality and quantity. I...

Appalling service, went in last week and waited to be served, got ignored, served customers who came in after me, had to ask that someone to serve me. Thought I would give them another chance today, stood in front of the counter in a bright orange puffer jacket, waited and waited then 2 young guys walked in and the young lady behind the counter ran to serve them, again totally ignoring me.
