I was wondering down Whiteladies road on a Sunday evening and this pub was one of the few places that looked open and serving food. I wasn't certain I'd want to go in, as I could see the rugby flags and a large video screen showing sports, and I don't usually go into sports pubs. However, I could see LGBTQ pride flags from outside, so I felt reassured. The inside is quite roomy, plenty of space to move about, and busy but not too crowded on a Sunday night. Best of all, the music is low key and not too loud, and the video screen is muted, so it's quiet and peaceful inside. (I don't know if this is the case on other nights but on Sunday it's great.) They have a limited menu - just pizzas - but they are tasty and actually pretty large for a single person; one pizza could easily feed two quite happily. Currently offering "Pizza and a Pint" for £12, not a bad deal this end of Clifton. The bar is small but stocks a really nice selection of good quality spirits, enough to cater to just about any taste, and the amber ale 'Bob' is absolutely delicious. Bartender was quick, slick, and very friendly and welcoming. There are clearly a number of regulars as she spoke with many people with great familiarity. All in all a great ambience, nice little find on a Sunday evening in an area I don't...
Read moreWent with a couple of girl friends recently. Avoid! Location, on the main stretch, nice little clean pub with a sweet fairy lit outdoor space but the barmaid was insanely hostile! From the moment we got in there was no warm greeting just a look of "what dyou want" followed by grunts and huffs as we asked for drinks. I might add this was a week night, the pub was quiet and there were only 3 of us (sober and pretty chilled people), so no obvious cause for such a foul mood. We had planned to stay here all evening as we heard the food was good but not a chance! I ended up chatting to a local in the smoking area who said "thats just devan she's like that all the time" (so i assume that's her nane/ nickname). Why be like that?!? This place is a chain run venue too so I'm confused why bad attitude staff are allowed?! None of us will be going back and I'll certainly be correcting those that...
Read moreWelcome to new managers Iain and Laurane and of course little Gracie. You welcomed everyone on your opening night 7th, June 2013 with a smile as if we were already your friends! The background music was at a perfect volume, the bar was beautifully clean! Ive been back twice already and got the same welcoming smiles, I wish you both well and hope the locals support you in your new venture. You have great ideas and once your kitchen is up an running, there will be no stopping you. I don't live locally, but it was well worth the drive over from Bedminster. All the very...
