Old Castle Green — Restaurant in Bristol

Castle Green is hands down the friendliest pub I've ever stepped foot in. From the moment you see those gorgeous flowers adorning the front, you know you're in for something special.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic - genuinely warm, welcoming, and always ready with a smile. They make every visit feel like you're catching up with old friends rather than just grabbing a drink.

And can we talk about how dog-friendly this place is? My four-legged companion absolutely loves it here, and the staff treat our furry friends like VIPs. It's so refreshing to find a pub that truly welcomes the whole family - paws and all!

The atmosphere is unbeatable - proper local pub vibes with heart and soul. Whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for the evening, Castle Green delivers every single time.

Bristol locals, you absolutely MUST check this place out. Visitors to the city, make this a priority stop. You won't regret it!

This is a great pub, the staff are very friendly and the outside area is huge with loads of seating. The only issue when we visited last night was that we had to use the toilet in their unisex toilets. The idea of unisex toilets themselves is no issue, however the only place to queue for the one stall was in the room of urinals. We did try to wait outside as it was extremely uncomfortable being surrounded by men with their trousers down, however then a man would just queue jump in front of us to use the stalls. It was very bizarre, i’m not sure why the other bathrooms weren’t open, but it honestly ruined the experience for us. The men we ended up standing with whilst waiting were incredibly aggressive and several of them had nasty comments about why we were in there waiting for the only stall. A shame as the pub itself and the staff were great, however bathrooms are important as it’s pretty inevitable that when you drink you will need to...

Mike and the team at OCG have created an amazing queer bar, with great atmosphere, fun entertainment nights, and really good selection of local beers that gets swapped up regularly and huge range of spirits, including a ‘spirits stock exchange’ where the prices change depending on demand. With some clever timing and a bit of luck, last weekend I got 12 shots for under £15!

The beer garden is big and covered so it’s great place to hang out no matter the weather. And they’re about to launch a new kitchen which I can’t wait to try.
