Randomly booked this place after seeing multiple reviews and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Having a good look through the menu so many dishes that is up my street I was certainly excited, we were sat outside and under the canopy very street food vibe.

Let’s talk about the dishes - I ordered multiple dishes and I’m break them down into my favourite to lest favourite. I’m not going to go too in depth as be here all week, but a quick overview on each dish and how I rated it.

1st - Korean baby back ribs - this was first dish to come out and wow! This was incredible ribs were tender, well seasoned beautiful depth of flavour. Not over sauced actually perfect! This dish alone 9/10 solid!

2nd - Korean fried oyster mushrooms - this dish came out near the end of our plates but wow, it hit the money again solid dish, really crispy batter amazing flavours running throughout with nice little touches 9/10 again!

3rd - chicken katsu curry arancini - was unsure what to expect but really wanted to try this and not be disappointed, really nice balance of flavours the Parmesan cheese with that katsu curry sauce really did work! Could have definitely ate more of those!

4th - Scottish scallops - this probably were I started to want a bit more from the dishes and felt a bit meh, also a solid dish scallops had little flavour dressed well but over powering wasabi just ran through the whole dish, pork belly underneath was crispy but soft and melted like butter, was a nice combo but again the wasabi mayo took over.

5th - spicy Korean fried chicken - look it says what you get it’s good it’s fiery it’s crispy it’s saucy! It’s decent sized thigh maybe a little dry overall inside but flavours deffo hit!

6th - Sichuan Fried Cauliflower - a bit underwhelming when comes to a cauliflower play on dish, no real flavour depth, good charing and portion size but pretty boring dish, when served in a bowl it going to sweat and kinda kill the crispy vibe.

7th / 8th dish are both the fries for me, unseasoned over cooked frozen fries dressed poorly. The curry fires lacked the sauces about 6 fries had touch of sauce on and rest just boring unseasoned fries, and same with kimchi fries again nothing special at all kimchi was ok but wasn’t exciting with that warm acidity and bright flavour.

9th - bbq mackerel filet - lack of any real flavour this dish wasn’t for me, overcooked very dry fish covered up by a heavy sauce. Some people may like this dish but for me it’s a no.

The food was good overall I could see what these guys are trying to do, it’s worth a look it’s worth having a go.

I would say the service was a bit hit and miss tho, and being sat outside I just never vibe with sitting on benches when eating meals but I know space is limited but we had 3 people on a bench for about 6/8.

Overall score here is a 7/10 for me, loads of room for improvement and certainly not bad food by all means, the price point seemed a little steep for the quality on show this time. it is a busy market here with lots of competition and these guys seem to be super busy so they must be doing...

Rude guy, bad service and burned food. I booked a table for 2 over the phone, the lady was polite but failed to tell me that my table was going to be indoors, in a dark corner. When we got there I was surprised to find out that despite the al fresco area being almost empty, the only table was inside (which was completely empty), I mentioned to the guy that I would like to be seated outside (sunny day and 20 degrees in Bristol for the first time after the easing of lockdown: you don't want to be inside). The guy was rude and talked over me, argued in a dismissive way, saying that there was nothing he could do and blamed me for not mentioning to stay outdoors when I booked, he said they were fully booked but I took a peak a few times and even when we had almost finished our burned food (mackerel and chicken meatballs) there was still empty tables. It was my first time in this restaurant and I heard good things about the food, I was aware that the service wasn't great but never expected to be so disrespected as a customer. When someone takes the time to call your restaurant and book a table, and they come in time, to spend money and have a pleasant lunch with a friend, feel grateful and honour your business, don't treat us as another one because for us it is not another restaurant Never...

I have seen the delights of this place frequently advertised on social media, with the images alone being enough to make the mouth water. Having set my heart upon its delicacies for months, I decided to bite the bullet and book a table here recently.

I visited SLG with a friend who has a number of food intolerances and I was very much impressed with the knowledge of the menu by the waitress. She was quickly able to identify what would be suitable for my friend, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for her.

As for the food, it truly did measure up to the delightful imagery that had wafted in front of my face for months. Having been catfished by restaurant food images before, I always err on the side of suspicion. But SLG really did deliver in taste AND presentation.

Everything comes tapas style – and I had a little pile of delicious Korean chicken on a plate (such an upgrade from KFC – in its crunchy tastefulness paired with its visual delight); as well as several other plates including a strange, green, rotund and raw cake of salmon which included avocado and apple. It was bizarre but it worked.

I would summarize by saying that if you like sushi, sake and selection, then Seven Lucky Gods is the...

Very overhyped place. Been wanting to come for ages. Convinced 3 other friends of going. Service was very lacklustre. Staff seem apathetic. No smiles. No check ups. You feel like you're doing them a favour my being there. We ordered drinks (£7 for Asahi is ridiculous). We ordered several dishes. What we liked: - Korean fried chicken - Cauliflower - Tenderstem brocoli - Tofu with mushroom and rice What we thought was OK. - Scallops and pork - pork was very fatty What we didn't like: - Salmon sashimi- ponzu sauce very watery, tasteless and adds nothing to the dish - Kimchi and curry fries. More like fries topped wish kimchi and curry. Would prefer if fries are tossed in spices rather than dumped on top. -Mussles- yes, in kimchi sauce but dish was quite tasteless. Mussles very tiny. Worst dish of the whole meal. Definitely would not recommend this place. I know the interior is meant to feel rustic but tables were not clean nor were the side plates. Insult to injury, a 12.5 % service charge for pretty poor service.

Can't really fault the service, the team are friendly and polite, however the young lady serving us did only order us 1 of something despite the fact we asked for 3. We also asked for a pot of mayo twice because the first person didn't get it. Splitting hairs? You decide. We had reasonably high expectations due to reviews seen, but I think we needed to temper them fairly quickly because the truth be told, the places we actually wanted to go to were closed on a Monday. I think if you like a bit of fusion you'll be ok with this place. Essentially, the food is flavoursome, well presented and hot. It's kind of Japanese fusion fast food. I think the value proposition is lacking, but this is wholly my opinion. Some dishes were really good but others were for the price, not. Perfectly adequate for a casual meal and drinks out with friends, but be prepared for them to start clearing you table without asking and don't expect to be offered dessert.
