I've given this three stars which would have been almost a five for the first few times i've had a delivery from them but the last one was poor.
Due to the extra funds required to eat their un-formulaic indian recipes, this is an occasional take away/delivery for us. Made on special occasions like birthdays or for visiting friends and relatives when you want to show off the local take away quality.
The last 'special occasion' was ruined by badly prepared food, in stupidly small quantities. Dry currys and unpleasant side dishes. This should NOT happen at a place where they charge a premium for their food. This is probably the most expensive indian restaurant in Bristol. If not, then it's way up there. But hey, I don't mind spending a few extra pounds to get food created by a creative chef that actually appears to bother about the food they serve.
I didn't complain about this. I was too annoyed at the time and spaced out on the issue the following day. That's my bad. I suspect though that they may well have dealt with this issue fairly, but I just didn't get around to it. In this case, they get a three star review overall as they let me down.
Top quality indian food prices demand top quality indian food seven days a week. Unreliable is where they are at in my mind but the prices remain high. Take your chances as their quality control is not a particularly strong point. Their potential is high but don't put up with average or poor food when you are...
Read moreAfter being shown to our table we waited nearly 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted drinks. By this stage we were ready to order our meals so did so. After chasing twice, a further hour and 15 minutes went by before we eventually received our food. One dish turned up stone cold and had to be returned for a new one and we were missing a sag side dish, which we asked for. We were with two children, so we naturally ordered a mild dish for them, yet after plating up the 'mild' Masala, it was so spicy that those of us that have Madras curries found it too spicy. This dish was also returned and they made up a mild version, that took around another 25 minutes to come and everyone else had finished their food before it came out and the children had to eat one their own at the end. We ordered water half way through the meal, that we had to chase twice before we got it, and several drinks that we ordered never arrived either. On asking for the bill, we were charged for the sag that never arrived and an extra chutney tray that we never asked for and never got.
The positive is all food was tasty, and maybe they were having a bad day, but not at one point did they apologise for the poor service or the long wait and this, coupled with charging for extra items we didn't get, means I wouldn't return or recommend...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant yesterday and were not really happy in the end. As a food buff myself, and after coming back from India recently, didnt feel the food was great.
The staff are very friendly. Few things were okay, but some of them really disappointed us.
We ordered Masala Tea, Masala Dosa, Chilli Paneer. Cheese and Chilli Naan, Tandoori Naan, Lamb Nilgiri.
Good Things: Masala Tea: Very good. Worth the money. Chill Paneer: Top-notch and enjoyed the taste.
Bad Things: Masala Dosa: Dosa was very good, but potato stuffing was very less and tasteless. Not really Masala dosa, if it is bland and doesnt even have salt/chilli in it! Sambar was good, but coconut chutney was cold(also without any taste/salt) straight from chiller.
Naans: Cheese & Chilli Naan was good, but didnt really feel taste of Cheese or Chilli in the Naan. Tandoori Roti was a bit undercooked from inside.
Murgh Nilgiri: This was the most disappointing part. Lamb was raw and not cooked at all. We had to send it back where staff accepted that lamb was undercooked and order something with Chicken.
As an Indian myself I know that there wasnt much "Authentic Indian" taste in the food. Not worth paying £31.07 for that bland, tasteless and undercooked food. Wasnt even offered an apology or discount in the bill...
