The Elmers Arms — Restaurant in Bristol

If it's food you're after, keep walking. The Elmer's Arms is a bar, a very good bar, possibly the best bar along the Old Market strip. Selling quality wines, spirits and an ever changing selection of craft ales on keg. The landlord, Elmer, is a lovely bloke. Always looking sharp, the man has style. There is live music to entertain on some nights, other nights it could a DJ. It could be punk, ska, northern soul, psychedelic blues, deep house, or who knows what playing. One of my favourite places in Bristol. Lovely staff, clientele, weekly bands and DJ's. Great ambient music with the opportunity to request a record be played from Elmers' decent sized collection on turntables built into an old piano. Only quality local beers (one cider) and spirits served at reasonable prices, on a copper bar with a green glow reminiscent of an american cocktail bar. The staff always have time for you, whether the place is packed or you're the only person in there....

If you want something different and unpredictable this is the place for you. Good atmosphere even on the quieter evenings. They get some great live bands in and DJ's playing playing proper records to suit all kinds of tastes. Add to that a fine selection of, well priced, drinks then what more could you ask for apart from maybe the volume being turned up a smidgen :-) They don't do food hence 1 star in that...
