I visited with 3 friends one who lives locally. The landlord was welcoming but we made the mistake of visiting on a saturday afternoon when there was a Villa Game being televised. This is a sports pub so we thought we would break with tradition and stay and watch the game. The football fans arrived in their droves and the place was so packed no one could move anywhere. The main viewing screen was in the part of the bar where the toilets were so to get to the loo you had to walk through a crowd of beer swilling layabouts who danced and jumped up and down with full pints of lager spilling it and sloshing it over everyone. No one would let you walk past to go to the toilet or outside even if politely asked to excuse me. Crisps were ÂŁ1 a packet and the beer was nearly ÂŁ4 a pint. He didn't ask how we would like our steaks done and it wasn't exactly service with a smile. All the tables could've done with a good clean, the cutlery wasn't clean. With this in mind, I dread to think what the hygiene in the kitchen was like. Both meals were stone cold after a half hour wait for both meals and I have never had a cold steak in my life. Saying this, we could tell the steaks were cooked. The mushroom was barely visible on either plate as it had shrivelled up so badly, when It reached my mouth my tongue turned to ice. He had several opportunities to ask us how our meals were but didn't bother because he knew what the answer...
