Friendly local pub with plenty to offer. Pool table, darts and big screens for sport. But most impressively is the beer garden. A lot of time and consideration for customers has gone in to designing a very relaxing, marquis style experience. FYI. This is a pub that is 25+ and does not serve food. Paul and Gill are wonderful hosts and always make an effort to make their customers feel welcome. A stones throw away from the main gates of Heaton Park makes this a must when in the area. Large variety of drinks (and Gin slushies) will have something for all palettes. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced for draught lager and bottles...

Lovely pub, couldn’t ask for a nicer local, landlord and landlady are the nicest people and the staff are all brilliant, clean & cosy lounge, spacious vault for pool and darts and a fantastic outside area with an undercover furnished section plus outdoor screen for sports viewing.........what more could you ask for ? Decent toilets maybe ?? Well this place certainly has them, the ladies are very clean and bright and the landlady goes above and beyond to provide a great selection of toiletries, I highly recommend paying this pub a visit if you haven’t...

Always a little surprise in store in the Royal Oak, from a genuinely excellent cask ale to the bonkers yet adorable PJ (the) DJ. The staff are friendly and service is quick.

The basics are there, good atmosphere, good drinks selection and if you're a smoker (I'm not) you have a man cave outside with TV heat etc.

The only thing I miss is a bit of food, if there was a pie etc available it'd be perfect. Five stars for...
