Don’t eat here if you don’t want to wait forever or have edible enjoyable food. I booked a table for 4 people at 3pm. We had family from Birmingham down for the day. We waited 10 minutes at the bar before we were told to go around to the other side of the bar to queue. We were sat by the main door and we saw 4 other groups do the same until we told them. There simply needs to be a sign on the bar when it’s not being used. I ordered 4 Sunday lunches, the only option was beef as they were out of chicken! After 45 minutes I asked if they’d forgotten us. 10 minutes later our food came. If we weren’t ravenous we’d have sent it back for the following reasons. The beef was really chewy and had a thick layer of fat around it. The knives were barely able to cut into it, you needed steak knives. The cabbage wedge was covered with some sort of oil and we couldn’t cut through the stalk. The ‘light and fluffy’ roast potatoes were the complete opposite, pale and obviously not roasted long enough (if at all). The carrot buttons were cold and dried up. There were pea shoots but no idea why plain old peas were not given instead. Only 2 of the party had cauliflower cheese but no extra portion of veg to make up for it were on the 2 plates that didn’t have it so there was a gap in the food presented. We had Yorkshire puddings but they were very thin and shattered when you tried to cut them. Oh and on a trivial point they didn’t have mint sauce. The gravy was oily and very thin it didn’t taste of anything. I commented on how disappointed I was to my party which was overheard by a member of staff behind me and from then on all the staff stayed clear of us. No one even came to ask how our meal was. The pub was not really busy so why our food took so long I don’t know. I attach a photo showing what we left on our plates to show just how bad it was. We waited so long we had 2 rounds of drinks eat whilst waiting. We’ve eaten here before, but not Sunday lunch. We won’t eat here again.

The Court House is a lovely, cozy pub with lovely staff. I came here with my girlfriend who said that her meatless burger was delicious and I very enjoyed my fish and chips too, so if that's indicative of the rest of the menu it should be really good! I went when it was quiet so take that into account but the service was very fast, staff checked we were enjoying our meal multiple times which I thought was very courteous and the food didn't take long at all. However, the main attraction of this place is the view from the beer garden. Caerphilly Castle is a beautiful sight, and the Court House seems to have the best seat in the house. It is simply beautiful when you're out there in the evening in the summer with a pint or a cigarette watching the sunset over the castle. Honestly come for the view alone if nothing else. All in all, I think Tafarn Y Cwrt is a wonderful pub and I'm excited to bring my friends there. I'd encourage you to visit as many pubs in the UK are shutting their doors at the minute, and Tafarn Y Cwrt has to compete with the Malcolm Uphill (Wetherspoons) just up the road. Do yourself a favour, and visit it.

Fab meal, venue and staff 👌 the waitress was amazing correcting my husband mistake when ordering, which we really appreciated. The food was cooked perfectly and reasonably priced. This is a child friendly venue with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. The views in the outdoor area are of Caerphilly Castle so you could happily spend many an hour sipping your favourite drink and watching the local wildlife. Dogs are welcome and catered for, you'll find blankets, bowls, water and treats next to the doors leading to the outdoor area. They have a separate seated area for smokers which leaves plenty of outdoor eating tables if the weather is nice Some nice little touches throughout and I would highly recommend a drink or meal here

We visited the Courthouse in Caerphilly on 8th Dec at 3 15 pm and overheard the table next to us say that they had to wait an hour for their food. The people sharing that table decided to order some food hoping that the long wait would be over so, we decided to order some food too. When i asked the waitress about food she told me that they were no longer taking orders for food as they were still coping with orders from before. It was Caerphilly Medieval Market Day so the town was busy, but the bar did not seem to be at this time. The menu clearly states" the best food in town" it also states food served until 5.00pm.

I also have to say that the decor of the place leaves a lot to be desired. Carpets and seats sticky and filthy as are most tables. The only person making any effort at all was Michael, who was cleaning tables and generally being very friendly and helpful.

Whilst there I visited the ladies bathroom. As I was going in so was one of the member of bar staff, she initialed the sheet on the front of the door, but did not check the ladies bathrooms at all, which were pretty disgusting. One stall had the toilet seat lying on the floor, there was no hand dryer or paper towels, and one of the soap dispensers was completely off the wall.

This pub has the best views of Caerphilly Castle, the most history of any pub I have come across in Caerphilly and yet is one of the worst I have ever been in, in the world, what a shame and...

I've frequented this establishment a few times, here are the pro's and con's..

Pros: Good Music when DJ plays Nice view of the castle Prices are fair for a night-out

Cons: Bad Customer Service (No please or Thank-you's) Expect to be short-changed every now and again (which is more than enough in my opinion, it shouldn't happen at all). Tables are often covered with spills or food debris Food is often served almost cold and undesirable The toilets are always flooded with urine and this can be smelt on entry to the premises You can almost guarantee you will be stepping in vomit or broken glass to get to the bar. There's always a rowdy bunch looking to start trouble or fights on weekends. Expect to interrupt a drug ordeal albeit selling or using in the toilets when you need to use the facility. There's rarely any toilet roll on offer, also the hand dryer is temperamental.

Okay..

The list could go on for awhile but by now hopefully my experience will show that this place should be crossed off your list if you are looking for a nice night-out with friends or family, unfortunately this place's potential to be a respected establishment is impeded greatly by those list of Con's. I believe executive management knows what changes need to be made in order to make the business safe and successful, but I believe it's just a case of "I can't...
