I am writing this review late as I have been away on holiday. I went to this restaurant on 17th August for a birthday celebration, there were around 17 of us so a good number and we spent a lot of money. I have been here a few times before but this visit was the worst I've experienced, I ordered the fish board for starters and the Pennie Spezzatino for main. Now the starter is £9.95 so not a cheap dish, so you would expect quality, my calamari was over cooked and chewy not what what you expect, I had to call the waiter over because no one came and checked on our meals, I explained that they were chewy and I couldn't eat them, the response was thank you for letting me know, no offer to replace or offer a refund. The main is described as a diced fillet steak, this is not correct, it is more like a braised steak, if I'd known this then I would not have ordered it. Overall feedback from all the party was that the food was OK not value for money, they have definitely slipped here and compared to some other Italian restaurants I've been to, it wouldn't be a recommendation from me.
Following your reply I'd like to say this is very poor customer service. I believe you have your facts wrong. Yes you didn't have a light ale and only dark but I excepted that and had a lager instead. Regarding the calamari I only ate 1 and gave the rest to my son and he ate some but as they were so bad he also didn't eat them all. I've spoken to my family and friends at the table and they disagree with your comments about them making fun and laughing, in fact they find these comments quite rude. The fact you can't take a bad review with the respect it was written shows that you have very poor knowledge of the UK market and that your customer service needs to be looked at. Your comments will probably do you more damage than good as people will read this and think if they get a bad meal it will be pointless to complain, and you will come back with some rude comments, although Volare is not for me a number of people in my party have...
Read more1st time visit today, highly impressed. The interior and ambience give the feel of a more upscale City Centre restaurant. Seeing the thought put into the design does inspire you to expect a higher standard of cuisine than you would normally expect to find in Caerphilly and this place certainly delivered. We ordered from the two course lunch menu at only £9.95 each seeming almost to be too good to be true. I ordered the Meatball starter and Katie ordered the Parmigiana, an aubergine layered dish she has been craving for since we left the States. Neither disappointed. The meatballs were light and packed with flavour, the rich tomato sauce complementing them perfectly. I knew how good the Parmigiana tasted just by the expression on Kate's face, she, giving it the ultimate complement of comparing it to the Eggplant Parm she used to order in the U.S. Next came the Mains, mine a vegetable stuffed chicken in a creamy light cheese sauce with garlic and rosemary potatoes, and hers, the SeaBass. As with the Starters, the depth and range of flavour profiles in each dish wowed us completely. The House Red is a delightfully light and fruity wine, and a much better quality wine than you would expect to be given for House wine. The service is relaxed, friendly, unrushed and highly efficient adding to the overall enjoyment of eating here. We have already booked to come back for an Evening Dinner and such is the reputation of the Volare , after only two short weeks of opening, the 19th of Agust is the earliest we can be back. That is how good this...
Read moreOn picking my granddaughter up from her work, we decided on the spur of the moment to visit Volare... Despite, us arriving without a reservation (strongly advised), we were given a 2 hour table slot in between the evening rush...🤗 What a treat we had in store... The food, the friendly attentive staff, and the light-hearted laughter brought back the memories of dining in the wonderful cafes and restaurants that Italy have in abundance. I chose the penne spezzatino and a delightful dessert favourite - tiramisu. The spezzatino was delicious- the fillet beef was soft and flavoursome, the pasta, cooked to perfection and holding texture, traditional hearty Italian stew that warmed and filled me up, but didn't make me feel too over-filled. Leaving me enough room for an unctuous, creamy, light and fluffy tiramisu, and served with an excellent espresso, my journey home afterwards in rush hour traffic was much less stressful than usual...😊 Grazie Volare...I am coming back again soon, and with my dear lady wife ❤️ It would be selfish of me not to share this wonderful dining experience with the one I love! Goes to show, even us Welsh blokes can be as romantic as our Italian...
