Foods delicious but extremely pricey for what you actually get , felt very rushed bearing in mind you're two hours start from actually giving your name as you walk in even though your sat in the bar area waiting as our table obviously wasn't ready as we got drinks and was sat there for around 15_ 20 min so was unaware our dining time was already ticking. When we were asked after our meal if we wanted any deserts to which we declined we were then told they needed the table back by one particular member of staff she was very abrupt and extremely rude telling us its the rules and most restaurants have this policy ,not the case, we obviously thought and have had experience with resturant rules with a two hour policy and thought the time would have started from when we got seated at our table to dine . We moved our drinks across to the bar area which we went on to having a nice time overlooking the rudeness we got presented with ealier ,when it was time to go we orderd a taxi and the same member of staff agiain came over and told us it was time to leave we told her we were waiting for the taxi to arrive and she responded very abruptly and extremely rude yet again telling us well its still time to go. We were in shock with the whole customer service from this one member who from our observation was front of house she definitely has zero customer relation and ruined our whole dining experience with Brooks. We've been before and we had not experienced anything like this prioroviously as we wouldn't have returned . We love to dine out and don't hold back on the expense there polite in taking your money but failed massively in customer satisfaction ,we will deffinatly Not be retuning again and will happily find somewhere else to spend our hard earned money and that isnt as rushed and with a...
Read moreWhat a little treasure! We visited Brook's after my wife's sister saw a review in the Guardian and recommended we go (she lives in London so could not go herself). The restaurant is small and relaxed, well decorated without being pretentious. Offers a good selection of drinks particularly wines, though their ale selection was a bit limited. The food however was epic! And while it's is not a tapas restaurant, the sharing ethos of the dinner servings makes for a fun and varied eating experience. The treacle malt muffin off the small bites menu was exceptionally delicious, like warm Soreen, and the singular scallop was well cooked and beautifully presented. The small servings menu was delicious, we shared three dishes between the two of us, with the artichoke pasta with oyster mushrooms just pipping the black pudding dish as our favourite. The cod choice not so much, but don't let that fool you, they were all at worst very nice. We shared a large dish, the roast chicken offering accompanied with two side, a delightful pureed cauliflower dish and a caramelized cabbage option. All of which rounded the meal off in style. While not a criticism, more a reflection on my wife and I's preference, the dessert options did not quite appeal, but as we left and retired home to indulge in a food coma, this was no huge loss. Overall, Brook's comes highly recommended. The service was friendly & efficient, and the food being not short of...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting Brook’s with my mum who had previously been years before. As you enter the decor is beautiful however the welcome was less than. One of the staff members sat at a table who just looked up at us and back down again then a second female worker who then greeted us and asked if we had a booking. Unfortunately due to COVID we now expect new norms but being led into a room and sat at a table while the restaurant is empty is fine, the waiting staff were wearing no PPE, we weren’t supplied any sanitising gel and when being served they had no issue standing right next to us. After our starters which were delicious, the restaurant started to fill, the space in the restaurant spans fairly large however the staff sat all 4 of the separate groups all in the same space meaning we were all definitely close to below 1 meters of each other let alone 2, and with the waiting staff standing right next to you then there was no distancing at all. The main (lamb in spiced marinate on a crispy naan) was full of flavour but within an hour of leaving the restaurant made my mum poorly and myself feeling rather disappointed with Brook’s for their lack of awareness with COVID guidelines and also potential problem with their food. The 2 stars are for the lovely lady who served us for her professional manner and politeness but she too did not wear PPE, stand far from us and acknowledged...
