Very good location in the centre of brighouse West Yorkshire just up one of the side streets. Lots of flashing lights in and outside so easy to spot when finding it if not local to the area. Plenty of parking available five minutes away and normally free after six pm on evenings and weekends. This place was extremely busy and as a first time visitor to the restaurant myself and my partner headed upstairs to get a seat. Spoke to the bar man upstairs who was very polite and friendly and he told us we needed to ask downstairs first. Went back downstairs past all the cool and eye catching statues and decor and went through to the bottom bar. The restaurant was very busy and lots of people waiting. Spoke to staff and waited around four minutes till a table was available wich wasn't very long so very pleased due to the layout and it becoming busy. Got seated near to the door so was a little annoying and noisey with people constantly in and out for toilet 🚽 smoking 🚬 and coming and going but nevertheless at least we got a table. During our visit a man walked out half way through his food being very disappointed by food and service. A lady nearly took down a decorative palm plant due to being absolutely walloped on alcoholic drinks. Another man using an out of order toilet clearly signed up and not for use. Two women both rude and disrespectful blocking the door way and then eyeballing people while eating after being rude to my partner and myself. A group of six to eight people who arrived and apparently was on good friendly terms with the possible owner so got seated straight away while others still waiting. Overall food was excellent service from staff was excellent and it was very clean and tidy nicely decorated and very well light up with lots of tables. It was very busy and fairly loud from all the tables and different customers but expected for a Saturday night. Very disappointed when we had finished our food no hand wipes or napkins etc and had to ask for the bill five times to be able to pay up and leave. No fault of the staff but due to the bar manager / supervisor possibly owner. Eventually after the staff asking several times and I do appreciate it was busy but not that busy we eventually got our bill. Definitely value for money and they have a great weekly offer on for a five course meal option so worth a visit and possibly a lot calmer and quite so you can relax and enjoy the excellent food and...
Read moreThe Royal Delhi was our go to for takeouts and for special occasions. The food and service has always been good.
However we visited recently for my daughters birthday and didn’t have a particularly positive experience.
Postives: Food was good, serving staff were good.
Negatives: One rude member of staff behind the bar, when we had issues with food coming out late, the cost of the soft drinks and trying to split the bill. And to the young woman in question, you need to have some self awareness, as customers, we viewed your behaviour towards your colleagues as bullying and your behaviour towards us as customers was arrogant, dismissive and rude.
Ridiculously expensive soft drinks, £6 for a pint of lime and soda and a pint of lemonade and soda is daylight robbery!
Confusing billing system, we had a party of 14 who all wanted to pay separately. Due to there being no prices on the bill, this became messy when trying to work things out. Even after referring to the menu and people paying for what they had, individually at the bar we were told there was a £28 shortfall?
We did speak to the manager afterwards to explain the issues, He apologised about the staff member. And explained that the soft drinks are £6 a pint and £3 for a half pint because the drinks are bottled and not on tap. They need to make the drinks menu clearer about the costs because I’d be surprised if anyone would be happy to pay £6 a pint for a soft drink, especially when a pint of beer only costs £5.50
The manager did give one of our party a £20 voucher to apologise for her food coming out later than everyone else’s as a goodwill gesture.
But these issues, spoilt the visit and our experience as customers. And the things we will remember from that visit, sadly will be the negatives and as a result we won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend going to our...
Read moreI recommended my friend go here as we had been and the food and service had been excellent but I wish I hadn’t told her to go after her experience !!! She went with her husband this last week , when they arrived they were seated and brought the pickle tray and popadoms ( which she said were the best she had ever had by the way ) then the waiter came over and asked if they were ready to order to which my friend said “ well could we please see a menu first “ they hadn’t brought one to them on arrival which was fine but obviously they couldn’t order food before looking at what they offered , they then ordered their food , two curries , chips and pilau rice and waited for it to arrive , which it did minus the pilau rice , they didn’t make a fuss and simply told the waiter when he next passed that no rice had arrived to which he replied he wouldn’t charge them for it ( he was a very tall slim guy ) which again was fine , and she said the food was lovely , then it came to paying the bill which came to around 26 pounds , the same waiter asked them if they would be providing a tip which my friend was quiet taken aback with as this is not something you are normally asked when paying so she told him she didn’t actually think she should since they didn’t provide menus or the rice but that yes she would leave a two pounds tip as the food was lovely to which he then said “ well that takes it to 28 pounds so shall I just round it off to 30 pounds ( he wasn’t joking ) he was politely told no and they paid and left , she said it ruined the whole meal And that she will not return due to this waiters behaviour which is such a shame as this place provides excellent food but it maybe time to teach the waiters the proper way to behave and basically bullying someone to leave more of a tip than they are comfortable with it not...
