The Prospect — Restaurant in Calderdale

Today I took my nan for afternoon tea at The Prospect. She lives near by and we had seen a Groupon offer and some good reviews. What we actually got far surpassed our expectations.

I had communicated before hand online and found the communication excellent and prompt. We arrived at 1pm for our booking and was greeted by a very friendly lady ( who later we found to be the owners daughter) she told us to pick a table we would like and came straight away with tea and coffee. She was ever so friendly, and When our afternoon tea arrived it was huge and  could have fed 4!

The cakes and scones were lovely and a great choice but the sandwiches!! Wow what a selection. We were offered more tea and coffee throughout our visit and it was nice to see the place looking so clean and tidy. It was warm and welcoming and the owners really are making the best effort to attract customers.

Others around us were eating off the regular menu and it looked gorgeous! We can't wait to to back to have a meal. It was a bargain with the Groupon offer but would have been still value for money without it. I almost didn't want to use it because I felt they deserved every penny.

We will be back to try the rest of the menu very soon. ( ps don't let the roadworks put you off! There is access in boothtown near range bank which we found better to...

The decor inside was lovely & homely, giving us a good feeling before even sitting down. We were greeted with nice smiles by the lady owner and I think her daughter who took our drinks order ensuring us that our wine choice was a good one because that was her favourite 😃 Then the 4 of us went on to enjoy a delicious evening of lovingly prepared food, we thoroughly enjoyed all of our dishes from starters to desserts. Do not even think of skipping the desserts, they were wonderful surprise, all homemade and individual 😍 Must mention also that my Lamb Loin was just perfect and my husband was more than happy with his steak/ale pie. I happily gave his chunky chips a taste test on more than one occassion and you'll be pleased to know they passed the test, lol

Sunday Dinner is next on our list 😋 and if the lamb loin was anything to go by I'm very much looking forward this visit. We'll be bringing my mother in law to this one who believe me, we don't bring out unless we absolutely know she'll be happy 🤣

Visited here for the first time today for lunch, what a beautiful place and absolutely delicious food, Lucy was a wonderful attentive host. This place has a cosy, friendly, warm atmosphere, the views over Halifax on a non foggy day will be stunning. More people need to visit this hidden gem in Halifax, Can't believe I've not been before, will definitely be back. The cheesy cottage pie croquettes with gravy mayo were an amazing starter as was the sharing camembert with mouth watering crumb top. The beef dripping fish and chips served with a tasty curry mayo and pot of mushy peas rivalled the best seaside fair! All three of us Managed to squeeze in desert and coffee too all fantastic.
