When we walked in, there were tables full of drinks and plates. That was okay though; Its a busy period and forgivable.
We then went to the bar to order food and there were only a few members of staff serving, while there were many people at the bar. Again, probably a bit understaffed around Christmas so fair enough.
Then, our food came out and while fine for the most part, my avocado was FIZZY. Beyond ripe, beyond overripe but fully off. That's OK though. I scooped the unappetising green gunk out of my meal and ate the edible bits.
It wasn't until the blue-haired, bearded, plate collector came that all these small things seemed to represent an overall disregard for customers. Despite telling him that his food was substandard and explaining to him that an avocado isn't supposed to be fizzy, he rolled his eyes and acted like an immature child, rather than speaking to a paying customer like an adult. Not once were we offered an apology and were told that "That's the way we get them." and that he would "inform the kitchen staff".
I like Wetherspoons and have been going for years, but I have never met such a rude employee whose job involves speaking to people. I seriously think the guy needs training on how to speak to customers because common curtesy obviously isn't something that comes...
Read moreThe Mrs got a jacket potato with cheese and roasted veg today and when she'd nearly finished her meal found a piece of chicken in her food we discreetly mentioned it to a team leader who told us it was impossible to be there and seemed to have the attitude that we'd put it there she offered a cursory apology and said she'd speak to the kitchen staff. Even though she walked past our table several times after not once did she stop and say she'd spoken to the kitchen. At the very least I would have expected to be offered either a refund or a free drink as is normal practise when standards fall below the accepted minimum This can only be put down to poorly trained staff both serving and in the kitchen definitely so in the case of a team leader so if you're a vegetarian BE WARNED you could get more than you bargained for with your meal
Since I posted this snd complained on Wetherspoons web site I have had an email from the kitchen manager explaining how seriously they take cross contanimation and apologising. I went back last week and though i didn't eat my dad did and enjoyed his plate of fish and chips Well done spoons for superb customer service I didn't expect a reply but you proved me wrong For that and the fact that my dad enjoyed his food back to 5...
Read moreOrdered 2 burger meals and a lasagne, lasagne was cold in centre and didn't even have any mince in it. Told staff she took it back and we told her we wanted a burger instead. She come back and said our table of 5 (2 people ordered food seperate) could have a free round of drinks and that they would do burger asap but they are fairly busy, we could see about 5 tables rest were empty. 40 mins later we had all eaten but the burger still hadn't arrived. We asked member of staff and she said it shouldn't be long, an hour had gone by still no burger, asked the same member of staff how long it's going to be, was totally ignored, asked another member of staff 7 minutes later he came out with the burger with no apology. First time here doubt we will be back again. Food was nice but the service was disgusting. Even our friends on table next to us (family of 4) waited going on 40 minutes for their food, we saw there food on the food bar waiting to come out and that had been on there just over 10 mins, they were annoyed just are their food and walked out. Between us all we spent approximately £140-£150 we could have spent that elsewhere with better service. No wonder the place wasn't busy if that's the sort of service you get and...
