Absolutely horror show! Never in my many years have ever written a review, but I just had to for this place.
On arrival a young girl welcomed us even though I hinted a slight rude tone of voice and overall character. After been seated we waited…and waited…and waited…for our menus. After waiting so long I had to go and ask for for our menu, again the rude waitress with her grumpy face kept saying “what”, “huh” as if I was speaking tongue tied. When we got our menus and decided what to eat, of course you guessed it… we waited again for service, once more I had to wave the waitress down for service (which I dreaded).
So after waiting a trillion, billion, million years and watching people come in, in groups of 5 and getting their food before us (me and my girlfriend). We finally got our food!!! Hallelujah!
Hold on where’s my food? I ordered the lamb cutlets, 3 skinny tiny…no minuscule lamb cutlets. That were still bleeding, nearly moving and absolutely full of salt there’s less salt in the ocean. I mean that’s on the meat there was, which was about 2 bites overall. And half my plate full of soggy chips and the other half full of salad, that could feed a family of giraffes.
After complaining to a waitress which I hate doing, she replied with “wellll that’s how the lamb cutlets come” (what dripping with blood?) with her poker face. I said well you should of gave me 10 then, not 3! After she said she would get the manager we then again waited and waited for this manager to come. To my surprise no manager arrived but the same waitress who said “he said thank you for your feedback, would you like a free desert?”. ARE YOU SERIOUS? The manager can’t face me to apologize for his nearly moving lamb on my plate. Why would I want anymore food, after complaining about how utterly diabolical it was. Wow. Better service at McDonald’s.
£47 I will never get back and thanks for ruining our date night. Lots more I could write but I don’t want to bore you like their...
Read moreAte here last night for the first time after it came highly reccommended from some African nationals I know. The atmosphere was a ten out of ten, as was the decor and the service. Staff were attentive, polite, and all was completely faultless.
The food was the same. I've never had North African/Algerian cuisine but this was stunning. Me and my partner had the early bird two course choice. Her starter, the Hummus with Lamb, was presented wonderfully and tasted just as great. Mine, a filo pastry that reminded me of Greek style pastries, was delectable. For our mains we both chose tagine's with bread. The bread was fresh, warm, soft. My tagine was the Lamb meatballs with a kind of cheese and these were spiced wonderfully and exactly as I expected, I would say 8/10, though my partners Chicken tagine was incredible. The meat pulled apart so easily it resembled closer to pulled pork, while the soup base was so herby and tasty, it was a certain 10/10.
In the interim, we had a medium pot of the traditional mint tea, which can be seen served in a delightful little silver teapot, and was cheap and cozy. Certainly worth a punt to add that extra sprinkle of authenticity to an already wonderfully exotic experience. And a medium pot provided us with a small glass each, with enough to top them both back up to almost full.
For dessert, I had the dark chocolate, cherry and coffee cocktail (all cocktails are non-alcoholic) and it was nice, I'd say 7/10, though my partner had Baklava and ice cream, and having tasted some of that also, I can confirm that this was also a fantastic choice for dessert.
All in all, it was a perfect dinner. So tasty, they could certainly have just placed the bowls away to be reused without washing, because I left not a single crumb between either of ours. Stunning, and arguably my best dining experience in Cambridge. I'll certainly...
Read moreA Hidden Gem on Mill Road – Authentic Moroccan Delight at Bedouin
From the moment we stepped into Bedouin on Mill Road, we were transported straight to Morocco. The atmosphere is rich with authenticity – from the intricate artwork and gleaming metal plates to the vibrant fabrics draped across the walls. Even the plates are traditional Moroccan style, adding to the immersive dining experience.
The food? Absolutely outstanding. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavour and clearly made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. The lamb shank tagine was the absolute highlight – succulent, juicy, fall-off-the-bone tender, and perfectly spiced. I’ve had many tagines before, but this one really stood out. Even the chips for the kids were cut fresh and seasoned so well they were stealing bites from each other!
And the lamb’s liver? So good I had to order it twice – no regrets. Rich, tender, and cooked to perfection. You can tell the chefs take pride in both the authenticity and execution of each dish.
Service throughout the evening was warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being overbearing. The team clearly know the menu well and care about delivering a great experience.
If I had one (very small) piece of feedback, it would be that the tables are on the lower side – being 6ft2, I did knock my knees a few times. But honestly, it’s all part of the cosy, traditional charm, and it wouldn’t stop me from returning.
All in all, Bedouin is a true gem in Cambridge. Whether you’re after a casual dinner or a special occasion with a bit of atmosphere and cultural flair, this place is absolutely...
