Softest lamb shank on earth at #CarlosBarbacue on #MillRoad #Cambridge Literally melts off the bone. Tastes divine. Stunningly melt in your mouth mulaaim. Served on a bed of perfectly cooked burghuri, and a crunchy salad on the side. I asked for extra donor meat and forgot to take pictures of the out of this world perfect #hummus and the extra chilli garlic sauce and chilli sauce. Usually I would down it with a bottle of chilled Uludag ice cream soda. Had to make do w coke zero. Didn't touch the insanely delicious baklava and desserts. Such a good girl in am.

But here it is. If your in Cambridge do not miss out on Carlos's Barbecue on Mill Road. Everything from the chops, the shank, to the tawuks, in lamb or chicken, the donors, burghuri, hummus... Kababs...dessert...qava afterwords...everything is perfect.

Carlos is one of the most loved people on Mill Road. Genuinely passionate about his food, Turkey and Cyprus. He and all his servers have hearts of gold. Alhamdolillah his makes sure the food is perfect and his customers satisfied..

It's a Lovely crisp evening. Thanking Allah every moment for the weather, the blue skies, green trees and this surge of energy my body is feeling after so long.

I didn't eat all of that. Part of #diabetes is controlling portion sizes, so I'm being extra careful. I did imagine myself crunching on a sticky, sweet, flaky, crisp baklava.

Dreaming doesn't raise my sugar :)

Ribs, lamb chops, seekh kabab, chicken shish, lamb shish, the most juicy, soft, succulent melt in your mouth meat, on a bed of bulgur & pea pullao, fresh hummus, pittas, tarama, flakey, crisp borek pastry filled w either potatoes and peas or meat. The most fabulous chilli sauce to dip everything in. Followed by FANTASTIC revani, a soft semolina cake steeped in syrup. Some sweet Khadayif, made w stringed vermicelli, walnut and pistachio, a delicious soft crunchy bakalava of your choice. And through out the meal, Carlos’s magic secret recipe qava (tea), we had many cups of those! And a Turkish coffee to top it off.

Another magic ingredient is Carlos himself! One of the sweetest, most friendly, generous and loving gentlemen in the world. Best Turkish Cypriot food on Earth but Carlos has something for everyone with burgers, fish and chips, wings, donor kebabs. Jokes and friendly conversation galore. I could sit here all day w my laptop, work, snack, tea and coffee myself to heaven and back!

If you come to Cambridge, you have to visit Carlos BBQ on Mill Road, eat, drink and give Carlos a huge hug! Coz he is simply amazing. Nothing like being fed good food with love!

Had to go to the hospital and was feeling a bit rough post all the tests, then, we decided to go to Carlos and everything was forgotten in a meat and sweet fest! BEST DINNER EVAAAAAAH!

LOOK AT OTHER REVIEWS! I used to love this place, taking family and friends here on a regular basis. Now it is hit and miss with staff! Lack of cleanliness of staff such as smoking outside and not washing their hands on return! Even washing their hands in general seems beyond them! The Chef is a nice person and his deserts are lovely 😄. Hit and miss with the food and service, now with small plates and cold poor quality food! For instance, Breakfast is a child's portion of cheap poor quality everything, tea has the taste of a reused t-bag!

Carlos and staff will make a fuss of some diners or new diners, giving them a wonderful experience with lots of food and drink and a small cost. Whilst you are on the next table having to put up with your the opposite of everything!! Whilst being a loyal customer, overcharged with a poor service and small portion! (Overcharged to make up for the happy customer with the overall wonderful experience)!

The Waiting staff is often rude about customers and disrespectful, and I have often heard or been witness to this, knowing that he will do the same to you! If you want something without chips such as a burger, Carlos will deliberately throw a few chips on the plate so that he can charge you for a full meal deal, (he misses the understanding of the term deal!)

Carlos has the personality to make this as popular as it used to be, he employs family who are disrespectful, lazy and rude who would find employment anywhere else a problem! Staff apart from Chef look as they would rather be anywhere else!

Carlos used to be so popular and needs to turn this around before more people take their custom, but pass their thoughts and feelings to others.

Awful experience (read to know why): Hard to know where to start. I avoid looking at what happened with bad intention, but now looking back, it's hard not to do so. General: The guy is so random and ignorant of how he treats the customers. Food: for £15.9, you should expect a good meal. A big portion of carbohydrates (bread + rice). Meat was chewy and tasteless. Rice was cold, tasteless, and hard. Receipt issue: I wanted a VAT copy. I paid using a card. He couldn't give me a VAT copy for an unclear reason. Transparency issue: He did not communicate clearly and most of the time discussed the issue with his friends in their language. Extra charge: He asked me to pay about £1.7 extra to get a VAT copy. Again, it was not clear why although I asked why, and he kept talking with his friends and telling them, 'I pay my taxes.'. Was it a scam?: To fix the issue, he suggested to pay in cash, and he will refund the money. I did not have the cash, so he asked me to go bring cash!!! I just wanted to sort the issue, not enter an argument. So I was annoyed but brought the cash. He claimed that he refunded the money, which might take 48 hours to show on my bank account. Now, after more than 48 hours, the refund has not arrived yet. Customer service: no one answered the phone number as I was aiming to fix the problem before writing this review. This is my experience, it might not apply to other customers. I am not interested in what this person's motive is. But please be aware, be careful, and argue if any of these happened to you.
