I’m a bit torn on this one. The food was very good, some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve had and I’m pretty difficult when it comes to that :) but there wasn’t much choice on the menu, especially for someone with a sweet tooth like myself. We had to change our choice two/three times because they had run out of salmon, cheese, syrup, goat’s cheese, etc. and it was only 11am! The prices are reasonable - 19 pounds for eggs benedict on toast and a chai latte, and scrambled eggs on toast with a latte. The menu consists mainly of eggs cooked in different ways and toasties. There is also some porridge and toast with jam and honey. The cafe itself is quite small, there are 9 small wooden tables approximately, no specific deco so it doesn’t have a very warm feel to it but it’s clean. It’s not made for large groups though but is family friendly. I think we will go back because it was good but it won’t be on...
Read moreThis place used to be one of my absolute favourites to have brunch in the busy Mill Road street. Great menu options, fresh orange juice and a cosy place to be quietly. In the past year or so it became sloppy, the food is not great anymore, overcooked and dry, poached eggs that look hard boiled, the options on the menu are way less than they were before and the service is getting slower each time. Don't get me wrong, but slow service was the only complain I used to have about this place, so is not something new. Overall, I don't recommend Black Cat Cafe anymore. I used to, but for the quality of food and service, for sure you can look around and find something more suitable. It took me a year to write this review because I kept expecting a positive change to the previous quality. One year after things started to go not so positively, I reckon it won't...
Read moreDee-lighful!!! Traveling from USA, wanted a local shop. I walked from Parker's Piece down Mill RD. Lots and lots of shops on the way to stop and visit. Back to the point - The Black Cat Cafe is a great find! Staff is super helpful and even helped me figure out some cultural questions :-). I got there after the lunch rush and would suggest that, the place isn't giant but there are certainly enough tables and they are large enough to share, outside seating was available but it was a little to chilly for me. I CANNOT say enough about how WONDERFUL the staff is. I got a vegetarian sandwich, there are several vegetarian options, and it was yummy. And honestly, you can pretty much just name your sandwich, even if it isn't on the list. My only regret is that I was traveling solo so I didn't have someone else's...
