Vegan Options? Yes. TL;DR - Last paragraph below

You can’t go wrong at Urban Larder, a coffee shop frequented by locals. They serve great coffee with satisfying sandwiches and sweet treats at reasonable prices. They also sell their Coffee grounds and other local artisan products (i.e. Jams, chutney) in the shop. The shop is quite small so not the best place to visit with a big group if you’re planning to dine in.

They do usually have a few vegan options (I do wish they would start to offer some vegan cakes/sweet treats!). For food, the mainly offer salads and sandwiches. When I lived along Mill Road, I definitely was a regular at Urban Larder even if I were to just grab a coffee. Their toasties are AMAZING because of the thick slices of bread they use for it! The bread itself is so flavourful (I think its sourdough?) and always toasted to perfection to give a nice crunch while still crumbly and soft. They don’t skim on the toppings either. A few of the toasties I’ve had before: Artichoke & Mushroom Toastie, Avocado Toast, Grilled Cheese Toastie. Also a plus –friendly staff that are very accommodating to your needs.

TL;DR: I wholeheartedly recommend this local independent coffee shop for good coffee, toasties, lunchboxes and some selection of sweet and savoury baked goods, even just to buy to-go. Even if you’re on mill road or near the train station, pop by and grab a...

One of my favourite places on Mill Road by far. The first time I went, I had the best cappuccino of my life. I'm going to sound like a coffee snob here, but the structural balance between the steamed and foamed milk was just perfect. Also, bonus points for being served at a drinkable temperature, so the milk is still creamy rather than burnt and you can take a sip right away instead of waiting 5 minutes while it all deflates! The toasties are delicious (you'll want another no matter how full you are) and they also sell coffee beans, which they can grind for you. Be aware that they don't have wifi, and are a laptop-free cafe. Very family friendly. They also have a toilet. And the baristas are always cheerful and welcoming. What's...

Lovely balanced flat white and how can I resist a toastie in this wet morning?

The ‘Nduja bean one is a delightful reinterpretation of beans on toast. Crunchy but not greasy. Very cheesy. Very satisfying. Very flavorful with the extra kick of the spreadable sausage (not visible but probably blended in).

The place is quite far from me, but I’m definitely going to try the blue cheese next time ^^ (the half toastie comes in a smaller bread that makes it look like a full one. No more cauliflower cheese for the vegan option.)

The cozy cafe is actually not crowded as I had expected. The staff are...

Urban Larder in Cambridge is easily one of my preferred cafes. Their coffee is absolutely delightful, and I'm a fan of their delectable homemade bakery and pastries. The service here is exceptional, which is why I'm a repeat visitor. Plus, they have some eco-friendly perks: if you bring your own coffee mug, not only do you help reduce disposable cups, but you also receive a discount. Additionally, don't forget to take advantage of their Friday morning special – order takeout coffee before 11 am and enjoy a discount!
