Pizza1889 — Restaurant in Cambridge

I don’t usually leave reviews but this is the worst customer service I have ever seen.

I have ordered on the 12th of November 11 Pizzas (120£ order) via UberEats and 1889 sent 10 pizzas. I have asked the driver about the missing pizza, he confirmed that this was everything he got from 1889 pizza. I contacted them to ask about this and someone picked up the phone and said “we ran out of pizza so we couldn’t do 11 and then said we are too busy to do all of the Pizzas” I asked them why they would take an order they cannot fulfil it I would just simply order from somewhere else. He said the manager will call you again to fix this.

The manager called and I politely explained everything to him he said that I should complain to UberEats because the driver delivered that one pizza to someone else. He literally lied to my face as the other guy I called said “we are too busy to make that pizza and they run out of it”!! I told him not to blame anyone but them as it’s clearly not the driver’s fault! I asked him politely to prepare that pizza and send it to, the manager starts laughing and he said it is impossible and I need to reorder again. What a joke! so you made a mistake and I should be the one to fix it. Pizza 1889 – Cambridge (Summary at the end for those who prefer a quick read)

I tried the Buffalo Mozzarella pizza – it was delicious, not too heavy, and thankfully one of the halal options. I added some spicy crisps myself, which made it even better – hope they add that option officially!

Staff were incredibly friendly and clear when answering questions. Service was quick – my order was ready in about 15 minutes. I'm new to Cambridge, so I can’t judge prices well, but I felt it was fair for what I got (though a bit cheaper would be nice).

The place is simple and open-air, right in the middle of the complex. Lots of available seating. You can enjoy the weather while eating, but some tables had leftover food or spills – perhaps just needed quicker cleaning between guests.

At the end, they kindly offered me a small tub of ice cream – a lovely and unexpected gesture that made the visit even more enjoyable.

Welcome back to R&H's crazy food reviews, joined this time by our special guest Y. This week we ate-teen 8 or 9 slices at Pizza 1889.

We ordered a meal for 2 deal, which included 2 12" pizzas and 2 sides for £24.50. The pizzas did indeed measure 12". The pizzas were tasty, with a thin crispy base and a sumptuous cheese. The garlic bread side was mediocre, and the biscoff calzone was a nice way to end the meal.

The only seating was outdoor (having closed their indoor tables). The area was nice to sit in but there was a distinct lack of shade or windcover to support the dining experience.

All in all, some good pizza in a nice corner of Cambridge. If you're in the area, maybe check it out.
