Popeyes Louisiana Chicken — Restaurant in Cambridge

The service was good, the guy who was standing at the entrance was friendly, also the lady who sent the meal to us was nice too, so one star is for the service. The other star is for the portion, even though the price is a bit higher to compare with other fast food, but it’s fair with the big portion. But the food quality is the most important for a restaurant and I afraid I couldn’t be satisfied with them. Ordered one kid meal and one two pieces chicken meal, and with three pieces of hot wings for free by spending over £10. The chicken was crispy but too salty, also the meat texture is weird, as my experience it’s seem like putting too much salt on marinating for too long, so the meat color become pink and with cured meat texture. Chips was also too salty, what a wasted as it supposed to be tasty with the seasoning. I normally wouldn’t leave any food, but this time I just couldn’t finish most of them. Also the curry gravy was just normal, not special at all. The only thing I appreciated was the milkshake, it’s not bad to compare with five guys. I am not sure if I will go again, but if that happen then I really hope that there will have a big improvement of the food.

The restaurant is of medium size, but even so, it can be hard to find a table during busy periods. You can order at the counter or on the kiosks, but I choose the latter, as they are quite easy to use, and I feel that I can take my time browsing the menu when I use them.

It is generally pretty clean (and so are the toilets) and staff do go around cleaning the tables fairly regularly.

The food is usually quite nice, but on a few occasions, I have been given totally overcooked food (see pics).

The drinks dispensers often dispense a strange, watered down and flat version of drinks which are supposed to be fizzy. It's really unpleasant to drink and makes me wonder if they are purposely watering down the drinks to cut costs 🤔.

The dips are nice but I've stopped buying them because on almost every occasion that I've bought one, it's been half filled. It honestly looks like they pick up the half-used dips off the tables and seal them back up to give to other customers! I really hope that's not what they're doing...

Apart from the issues listed above, the food is nice (when it's not burnt) and the service is fast, so the restaurant is worth visiting, but it could...

The burger was large, proper American size it's surreal. Cajun fries are flavourful for it's category (fast food) Chicken itself was not salty as you'd expect (which, to be fair is a good thing) -this is based on the original recipe piece. Hot wings were mildly spicy Both recipes are reasonably satisfyingly crunchy.

I'd hope they'd maintain how the chicken is cooked for it wasnt dry nor was it raw, somehow it's juicy. It just didn't taste like old chicken--For fast food this chick meal was juicy. Though the ranch was runny but I'm no American.

So far, I'd say this is a decent cheat meal, premium fast food must you say.
