2nd time in this cafe/resto but was disappointed.1st experience was ok, so thought we'd come back & support local cafe as was on the way as well. But will never again it is ashame as we are cafe lovers & supporters of local shops. First, the young lady at the counter was lovely but the guy server was not looking please to serve. Maybe that's how he is but if you are in a hospitality business you have to make an effort to welcome customers with a bit of a smile as they are your business. Second, I can't believe we were served toasts using the crust or the heel part of the bread. As a paying customer I don't expect to be served with the crust or heel part of the bread. I know you should not waste but owners should use it for breadcrumbs or who owns the shop can use it for their own consumption to make sandwich but not serve to a paying customer? It doesn't feel like you value them as you serve them the part of the bread that no one wants to eat plus you pre butter your toast, I prefer butter on the side though. Also the food is average and the price is not cheap I could have gone to another cafe and served better & paid less as the other cafe serve really good coffee. It is a let down as I really liked supporting locals, especially in this current climate you should look after your customers better. It doesn't mean if they don"t complain it is ok it will just mean they will not come back again as experience is not good. Decor needs updating and toilet needs sorting too. Sad but if you improve your customer service and the food you serve the decor can be forgiven. Looking after your customer is the number one priority, you should treat everyone the same it doesn"t mean if they look foreign you should treat them otherwise as these people have money too to help...
Read moreWent here for lunch on Saturday 23/2/19. I ordered the jacket potatoes with tuna, sweetcorn and olives and a cup of tea. Given the name of the place I was expecting a really good jacket potato. My tea arrived and due to the teapot lid not being able to close it lost its heat quickly. My lunch arrived relatively quick but the potato was luke warm, it had obviously been sitting around. I told one of the waitresses who offered to heat it up. No, I didn't want it microwaved, there is nothing worse than a nuked potato. Another waitress came and swiped it away without listening to me at all. It was a different potato that came back, smothered in butter (hadn't had butter before) and considerably smaller, this might be due to being nuked, they always shrivel in the microwave. The original plate of food had looked nice but this time it didn't and the tuna was now like slop there was so much mayo in it. All in all my experience here was awful, they either need to change their name or get someone in that can cook a half decent jacket potato.
I would not recommend this cafe, it's not good enough to be called a café (or restaurant) although that's the price they charge and I definitely won't...
Read moreIt was edible, not enjoyable. The cafe itself is quite nice, but for somewhere that is supposed to specialise in jacket potatoes it is a huge disappointment. Jacket potatoes really aren't difficult to get right - wash, poke holes, cover in olive oil and salt, bake for 1-1.15 hours. If you have a rotating stock in the oven you could get it perfect every time at very little cost. The potato I received was anaemic and seemed to have been boiled rather than baked. I only ate half and left the rest. I couldn't see any butter in the potato and the mayo in the tuna tasted unusual. The cheese was of poor quality, seemingly the cheapest available and the whole meal was in no way worth the price charged. The staff were accomodating to my request for no coleslaw or sweetcorn and were friendly enough but seemed stressed. In all I wouldn't go back here, and I'm surprised they have been running so long with such disappointing food, I can only imagine they rely on tourists coming through as I can't see anyone going back for a repeat visit. Two stars because the decor was alright and the staff weren't bad, otherwise it would...
