A 5 star pub without a doubt. From the moment I entered with my little dog I was welcomed. I had 3 hours to kill before my train back to London, I was quite tired after doing the touristy thing since 9am and just wanted to relax for a good amount of time. I'd been turned away from another establishment because of my dog and I then asked a local who recommended the Clarendon Arms. I was a good 20 min walk away at that point and just had this fear that I'd be turned away there too. London is such a dog friendly city, I can even take my dog inside clothing stores a lot of the time and definitely a in all pubs! But I had found Cambridge to be a little bit anti dog. Even the taxi that the pub ordered for me at the end of my night to take me to the station turned me away due to my little dog .... Any way back to reviewing the pub. The manager was just a delightful man and he made me feel very welcome so I settled in with some wine and let my dog investigate the pub. She was a bit jumpy and barky but I had no complaints when I apologised. The food was excellent. I had the prawn starter (garlic chilli butter) which was excellent. The prawns were large and juicy. The sauce was spicy and left me wanting more! I had some sour dough bread to soak up the juices, another slice would have been welcome. I then had a burger - I asked got the burger to have no bun as I wasn't sure I could fit it in, also I find bread makes me bloated. The chef kindly allowed me to have chips in replace of the bun. This was done as a favour and it left a very good taste in my mouth (literally) and I left in a very happy mood. When the first taxi refused to take me due to me owning a ferocious poodle the manager quickly ordered me another dog friendly taxi just in time so that i could make my train back to London, just in the neck of time. I can't wait to return to Cambridge with my family and friends, and when I do I'll be having dinner at the...

When we arrived, we were greeted by the landlord, who was very friendly, the best friend told the landlord that we had a table reserved under their name, and so the landlord showed us to our table, and we all thanked him, and he went in to go back behind the bar, at which point a friendly young waiter soon arrived to hand us our drinks menus, a short time later, he returned to take our drinks orders, which were a bottle of Italian Primitivo Red Wine, for my sister, her best friend, and and his friend, and a bottle of Harogate Spring Still Mineral Water for myself.
A short time later, the landlord returned to take our Lunch order, we had a choice of Beef, Lamb or Pork, My sister, her best friend, and myself chose Beef Roasts, and his friend chose Lamb.
For Dessert, My sister, her best friend, and myself had Tiramisu, and his friend had a slice of Strawberry Cheesecake with Whipped Cream.
Afterwards the landlord returned to ask us about the courses and service which we all said was very good, we all said that we would be back, and we spoke briefly to two other patrons a couple, who asked us about our meal, and we said to them, that it was very good, as it was their first time there, and the best friend paid the bill, and we said goodbye to the landlord, telling him that we...
Read moreWell I honestly don’t know where to start absolutely shocking worst experience of dining out I have ever had! Arrived for lunch for the Sunday roast with my family was seated away down the back outside the toilets for what reason I will never understand because the place was empty! The waitress was so rude she was beyond ignorant was told to order at the bar which I did then she demanded payment I asked what about if we want to add to the bill like desserts etc and was very bluntly told we have no desserts!!! Paid the bill and went back to my table half hour passed still no drinks or food quietly asked if we could have our drinks to which she looked shocked and confused and started to blame the man who was working with her but in her own language! Food eventually arrived but was like they just plated it up and forgot to cook it or should I say reheat it for the 10th time my turkey was clearly fried and like a piece of leather potatoes was shocking as was the veg and covered in the most disgusting thick brown gravy! Awful!!! Explained our food was cold she took it away put it in the microwave brought it back no apology!! If I could score -5 for this place I would! Food and service was absolutely disgusting and the female waitress is definitely in the wrong job as her attitude and customer service...
