The food is fine, but slow to get for you for raw food you cook yourself. The cooked dishes came first before the raw meat platter, which seems backward.
When the platters arrived we got to cooking and as the meat cooked the oils in the bottom caught fire.
The staff were totally inept at dealing with the fire, first removing the cooking plate to which the flames surged up out of the table so he quickly put it back and just stood there doing nothing, saying nothing. The flames were pouring out under the table. Towards our legs. We then suggested a wet towel/ fire blanket and he came back with something the size of a flannel and panicked when the griddle was removed exposing the flame and missed the fire. One of our party then had to pick it up and reposition it to smother the flame of which it was barely large enough to do so. Up till this time thick smoke had been coming from the unit. The smoke alarms were triggered and they fumbled to open the large windows to the road. We moved ourselves onto the next table to finish cooking the meal and the manager finally appeared and said “It happens sometimes”, then disappeared.
If so you should have a staff that can deal with it completely and efficiently.
One of our party then had to go up to the staffs service station and get replacement plates for our group as they had randomly taken two of the 5.
There was no apology or asking if anyone was ok etc. Just went back to chatting by their counter like it hadn’t happened. One waiter then came to change the drip tray underneath which was too hot to do so as it had just been on fire 🤣🤣. Had this have been done prior to our booking commencing this wouldn’t have been an issue.
Because it’s a restaurant where you place your order off the phone you have a staff that don’t engage with the client so the “could we get you a round of drinks for the trouble” was not even a remote possibility. Then when the bill came they had already added a 10% service charge. Which the teller was awkward about removing. Let alone a discount or any concession on the price for the monumental failing of their staff to deal with an apparently regular problem. One of our party had signs of smoke inhalation with a cough and sore throat for the rest of the evening.
The cooked dishes were done well. Of which we had two. The beef was cheap and tough. £60 of beef you would expect a better quality and the beef cuts were not explained when brought to the table. Chicken is chicken but they also could have explained the 3 options.
It’s was fun and funny that became laughable.
When you have a restaurant that services the delivery market, it feels the sit in customers become second rate. As the delivery drivers are pushy but obviously have a rapport/ favoured relationship with the venue. This was...
Read moreFirstly we booked at the wrong location and we had actually made a booking with their other restaurant around the corner but they were happy to accommodate us at this location instead.
But it was all down hill from there. After being informed that there were some things on the menu that were out of stock due to "supplier issues", which I half expected to hear due to many other reviews on here complaining about the lack of choice. Upon scanning the QR code on the table to view the menu it was quite crazy to see how many options were out of stock, to the point where we considered leaving. The BBQ options were limited to either chicken or spicy pork belly - two of the highest markup meats on the menu, I might add. The drink options were also limited in regards to selection, with most wines and alcohol out of stock. But hey, I'm not a drinker so it didn't bother me. What DID bother me was the £4 price tag slapped on a can of coke from the fridge poured into a glass and the same price tag whacked on a glass of orange juice from the carton which would've cost 60p for a litre from Bookers. I understand a markup needs to be made but this place feels like a scam, and I don't say that lightly. The poor choice available even from the small plates makes you feel like a captive audience, having to order things you didn't really make the trip for at prices that just can't be justified.
The quality was possibly the worst thing. Ok so we found some rice cakes and chicken, great, at least that was available! I'd rather they weren't either, chicken clearly from frozen with more batter than chicken. The rice cakes had the blandest sauce with some grated mozzarella dropped on top of it, still doing its best to actually melt.
Our experience here felt like everything was geared towards margin and in a way that was hard to feel as though we weren't being exploited due to the limited menu. Maybe I would've understood that sometimes bad things can happen and we got unlucky, but not after reading other reviews. Change supplier, put some...
Read moreI entered the restaurant and it was very busy. I was greeted soon after and asked for a table for one (I didn't have a reservation). The staff member was very friendly and allowed me to choose where to sit, despite there only being a handful of vacant tables.
The food options are either a Korean bbq (where you choose food items and grill them yourself on the grills integrated into the dining tables), or items from the set menu.
To place an order, you scan the QR code on your table with your mobile phone, and then make your selections from the menu. I chose an item from the set menu, rather than the Korean bbq option, and I received confirmation on my mobile that the order had successfully been placed.
As I sat and waited for my food, I noticed that the building was in need of repair. It was tired, dated and not very clean. Even things like the cutlery on the table were dirty, with baked on food stuck on them. While I can understand the building being dated, there really is no excuse for dirty cutlery. It was very offputting and put me off my meal before I had even received it.
My meal arrived about 25 minutes after I had placed my order, which was perfectly acceptable, given that the restaurant was very busy.
The meal itself was not very nice. It was supposed to be spicy chicken, but it actually had a very sweet taste to it, even though the menu description stated that it was a spicy dish. As someone who has eaten a lot of Korean food, this did not taste remotely authentic, and at times, I wondered if I had even been given the correct meal.
I requested my bill and it was brought over promptly. Based on this experience, I probably wouldn't eat here again, but I am giving 3 stars because the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. They worked really hard and were always happy to help. With a few improvements, the customer experience could be much better at this restaurant, but at present,...
